Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 There is no way to pause or stop video in 3.1.4. Used to be able to touch the screen or space bar to pause a video. The OSD doesn't have a play/pause button icon either. Finally, the X in the top right corner doesn't appear. Only way to stop was to hit the back button in the browser interface. Is this fixed in 3.1.5?
Luke 42079 Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 There is a back button in the upper left but this disappears when the controls idle for 5 seconds (just like Theater). The pause button - that is something new, that should always be visible. I've never seen that before but I'll try to figure out the situation that is causing that. Thanks.
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted January 27, 2017 Author Posted January 27, 2017 Using the space bar or tapping/clicking the screen in order to pause? Is that just gone?
Luke 42079 Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 No, those are both working fine here, in my testing at least.
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted January 27, 2017 Author Posted January 27, 2017 Will check after my system sees the update to 3.1.5 then and automatically updates. Running the setup.exe manually fails on .net libraries that are already installed.
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted January 30, 2017 Author Posted January 30, 2017 Was finally able to upgrade. Using the space bar to pause video playback works now. Still can't tap or click the screen to pause playback. That is a bummer because it is the one thing I use the touch screen on my laptop for.
Luke 42079 Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 Ok, on devices with touch input we don't do that because you need to tap the screen to get the OSD to show. Once it comes up you can click the pause button.
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted January 30, 2017 Author Posted January 30, 2017 That is a bummer. Poor quality of life change.
Luke 42079 Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 Ok but on a touch device if you want to bring up the OSD during playback there would be no way to do that without also pausing the video. It might be poor for your desires but it is the right choice for the general audience, in my opinion.
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted January 30, 2017 Author Posted January 30, 2017 Sure... Just disappointing. Every version is more disappointing than the one before it.
Luke 42079 Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 Quite honestly that is unbelievable given all the hard work and improvements that went into it.
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted January 31, 2017 Author Posted January 31, 2017 (edited) Well, you removed one of the features that I use most frequently from the system. That is disappointing. It is what it is though... Things keep getting whittled away. Edited January 31, 2017 by Koleckai Silvestri
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted February 1, 2017 Author Posted February 1, 2017 I think I figured out the space bar issue. The spacebar won't work following this scenario. Start fullscreen video on Monitor 2. Switch to a window on Monitor 1. Click on the video playing on Monitor 2. Press the spacebar to pause. Nothing happens. You have to click Play/Pause. After you do that, the spacebar works properly. At least until you switch monitors again.
