GoodGuy98 0 Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 I am having trouble trying to connect to Emby Server Ver 3.1.286 Beta. My system is Windows 7 Pro SP1 64-bit with current updates. I am able to get into the Emby Server on my PC with the following command: http://localhost:8096/emby/web/index.html I have tried using this URL and it does not respond: http://192.168.1.200:8096 When I try to access it via the Roku using both the stable and preview version, it hangs awhile and says error. I have tried using an android tablet google chrome to try and open http://192.168.1.200:8096. That ip address is the PC the server is running on. Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.200Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1 I am attaching screen captures of the Windows 7 Firewall settings, a port check to show port 8096 was open and my UserID GoodGuy98 showing the little cloud symbol is displayed. I am using only one UserID to attempt to access it on the various platforms. I am attaching a server log file as well. I have tried turning off the Windows Firewall and Avast Anti-Virus long enough to see if that made any difference and it did not. Any help would be appreciated. It seems I covered the connectivity troubleshooting idea and now I am stumped. server-63621062121.txt
Luke 42081 Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 I would check windows firewall to make sure no rules have been created blocking the server application.
Happy2Play 9783 Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 Does the Dashboard show that address for LAN access? Emby Connect is using http://app.emby.media
GoodGuy98 0 Posted January 27, 2017 Author Posted January 27, 2017 I would check windows firewall to make sure no rules have been created blocking the server application. I will take a look and see if I spot any rule that seems to apply.
Luke 42081 Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 see if there are any blocking mediabrowser.serverapplication.exe. sometimes we have noticed windows creating rules such as that.
GoodGuy98 0 Posted January 27, 2017 Author Posted January 27, 2017 Does the Dashboard show that address for LAN access? Emby Connect is using http://app.emby.media It does not show the entry for local access: that was displayed in the connectivity web page https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Connectivity It shows the remote access: entry pointing to a No-IP web page that is supposed to resolve to my local server address. I believe it displayed my external ip address when I cleared out the No-IP field, but I would not swear to it. Does the local address: line display on your Emby Windows system?
Luke 42081 Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 Yes, it looks like for some reason it's not able to determine your local ip address. This will impact Emby Connect when inside your network, but it will not impact your ability to connect without using Emby Connect, which is by entering your address manually.
GoodGuy98 0 Posted January 27, 2017 Author Posted January 27, 2017 see if there are any blocking mediabrowser.serverapplication.exe. sometimes we have noticed windows creating rules such as that. I ran an export from the Windows Firewall program and manually deleted the entries that seemed unrelated to Emby / MediaBrowser. The text file is attached. Firewall_Export Emby.txt
GoodGuy98 0 Posted February 5, 2017 Author Posted February 5, 2017 I updated to Beta 3.1.294 and the In-Home (LAN) access: line suddenly appeared on the Emby Dashboard. This is the first time I have seen it. Normally the Remote (WAN) access line is the only one I was seeing. I went to my Roku 3 4200X and started both the Emby New Preview app and the older Emby app. They both connected to the Emby Server the first time. When i went to play a MP4 file, it issued an error message saying "Malformed Data". I exited the apps. Next I tried to connect to the older Emby app and this time it did not connect as it did the first time. The new Emby Preview app did connect on the second attempt. I do not recall making any changes to cause the In-Home (LAN) access to appear.
Luke 42081 Posted February 5, 2017 Posted February 5, 2017 There are no changes in the server that would affect it, so more than likely something network related within your OS has changed. Possibly due to a windows update, it's hard to say.
GoodGuy98 0 Posted February 5, 2017 Author Posted February 5, 2017 I uninstalled Kodi 16.1 yesterday and started to install Kodi 17.0, but uninstalled it by mistake. I deleted the three MP4 files I had in the Emby Videos folder and replaced two of them with MP4's I transcoded with Handbrake 1.0.2 with Roku settings. The file played this time without the "Malformed Data" error message. The Emby Preview Roku channel connected, but the old Emby Roku channel did not connect. When I used the Roku options button "*" key, the version number on the Preview channel is lower than the older one. I am not in front of the TV, so I can't post the actual numbers. Not a big deal, just seemed a little strange.
GoodGuy98 0 Posted February 7, 2017 Author Posted February 7, 2017 The Local LAN line disappeared again. I did not run any Windows Updates that I recall. I did switch from Emby Server v3.1.294 Beta to v3.2.0.0 Stable. I try to keep applications updated, so I would have updated Avast definitions, MalwareBytes Anti-Malware definitions and SuperAnti-Spyware Definitions.
Luke 42081 Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Unless you're experiencing a problem then I wouldn't worry about it.
