EricJan 7 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Hi, I am a new user of MediaBrowser and loving it. The one thing that bugs me is when I change the name of a specific folder name (using windows explorer), apparently MediaBrowser (server?) goes ahead and recreates the original folder all anew and puts a movie.xml file inside. Is this expected behaviour and if so, can someone point me to instructions how to maintain your movie files? This happening is rather annoying when moving several folders into a new boxset folder. Thanks, -EJ
ebr 16169 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 No, that's a bug but I thought it was squashed. What version of the server do you have?
EricJan 7 Posted February 1, 2014 Author Posted February 1, 2014 (edited) I am running Version 3.0.5135.31685 on Windows Server 2012 R2. It also claims to be up to date ;-) My library is on the same server in a storage pool, the libraries are defined using UNC paths. Thanks. Edited February 1, 2014 by EricJan
ebr 16169 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 @@Luke, did this not get caught in the last round?
Luke 42077 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Well we have had this issue open for a while https://github.com/MediaBrowser/MediaBrowser/issues/614 But that's not exactly the same because that issues assumes you have the editing page open, then delete the folder, then go and press the save button on the item you just deleted. There have been enough internal changes in the latest source related to the real-time monitor that it's not worth looking at until it can be retested with the next release.
ebr 16169 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Yeah, that is for sure not the same issue. I know I had this happen to me when I moved several movies to new locations and I never touched any of it in the editing interface. Something just came along and created folders for the old items that had been moved. So this must be something else. Hopefully you got it by accident .
Logos302 86 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Media Center Master can do this as well some times.
EricJan 7 Posted February 1, 2014 Author Posted February 1, 2014 Actually, I do usually have the web-client open to update metadata when this happens. In my case it just re-creates the old filename, it does not duplicate it. Fortunately ;-) If you need further info from me just let me know.
bigjohn 753 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 I've had it happen to me as well, when renaming a bunch of movie folders (removing "The" at the beginning of the folder name). It didn't happen every time, only occasionally. Let's wait until the next release comes out and test it again to see if things have worked themselves out.
