Unable to install Plugin

I have tried to both fork and install locally using node.js

 

both methods cause the desktop app to crash and the xbox app to say 'Installation Failure'

 

Al i doing something wrong or is there a problem with current build Version 3.1.2.0

 

I have changed nothing but the requirements to make it unique if someone else can test import. Logs attached

I think you need to post in the server or xbox section.

 

I'm not familiar with xBox but maybe uninstall and try again or reset the server?

Hi @@kingy444, what do you mean xbox app? there is no way this could affect the xbox app.

 

Also, why go to this much trouble? if you're just trying to build a skin you don't need to fork the entire application, just the default skin.

New to the whole github thing, but i tried to follow the instructions here: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/emby-web-defaultskin

 

and forked the skin, gave it a unique name etc. What do you mean by going to this much trouble? I thought i was doing what the page told me to do.

 

In terms of how it affected the xbox app, the skin simply wouldnt install (Installation failure message), same error on tv.media.emby and the windows desktop app crashed completely. Even when trying to import http://mediabrowser.github.io/emby-web-defaultskin/package.json it fails with the same issue.

A skin isn't a plugin. So maybe Luke can give you some pointers on applying your skin.

your issue might be as simple as changing the link from http to https. If your client is https it won't trust content that is http and the install will fail. In other words change your install url from http://mediabrowser.github.io/emby-web-defaultskin/package.json to https://mediabrowser.github.io/emby-web-defaultskin/package.json.

@@Luke and @@davidtjudd, Im not running https (but i just tryed it) and still no success.

 

As i said, i followed the information on 'how to create a skin', and links above to the skin (nothing except names are changed) but i cant install it?

 

Any suggestions on what i could be doing wrong?

i can add to chrome(tv.emby.media) via the https url but its crashing either way in the emby theater app in windows.

 

How can i troubleshoot whats causing the windows app to crash. I have checked server side logs and windows event logs but there is nothing there.

 

on a side note, my emby theatre at tv.emby.media seems to have all the settings options duplicated. see screenshot

Yep, that fixed the duplicate links issue.

 

How do i go about working out why the desktop app is crashing, or has anyone else tried and received the same issue?

When/how is it crashing? I'm running multiple machines with a skin on win 8.1/10 without issue. Make sure your skin is up to date with source.
