Cant get NFS To Work

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I'm trying To access my videos over NFS. I'm able to get my videos to play if I use the default settings and stream over HTTP but when I sent it to path substitution and tried to stream over the network I can't get it to work.

I've been using:

nfs://[ip]/file/path

I was getting:

mount/mnt call failed with "RPC Packet not accepted by the server

I think that may have been due to nfs not liking an unprivledged usermount. That went away after setting my server to: 'Allow non-root mount:'

I've tried deleting the database and restarting. I've tried setting NFS to NFSv3, and NFSv4. I've tried by host name and IP, around with the settings in all sorts of different combinations.

Here are some errors I've been getting, trying all sorts of settings:

Verifying path: nfs://[ip]/[path]/[video]

That path doesn't look right.  Try adding a colon after your IP, eg nfs://[ip]:/file/path

Verifying path: nfs://[ip]:/mnt/tank/media/Series

I think you need to enter (replace [ip]) your IP address or the server name that your NFS share is on

Good idea! ;)

But really, I didn't want to post my ip publicly, I was using [ip] as a placeholder.
