pclausen 44 Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 The preview version will only display the first 1,000 titles on the All Movies page. Yes, I can search for that I want, or sort by date added, and filter on unwatched. But there are times where I want to just browse the collection. The old Roku client had the ability to jump to D, K, W or whatever, and begin browsing from that point forward. Will the ability to jump to the first letter of a movie be re-introduced at some point? Also, I would LOVE to see the ability to sort on these (not just one ones currently selected) in the Client:

pclausen 44 Posted January 24, 2017 Author Posted January 24, 2017 Hi ebr, I know that this is a preview version and this app is not finished. But after re-reading the post you linked to, it is not clear to me if the 1000 movie limit is a bug or not. I did validate that I can reach any of my ~3,500 titles via a direct search, so the limit is perhaps a compromise to limit the time it takes the render the first 1,000 titles in the vertical scroll? I also can't infer from that post if additional sort options are planned or not. Nor is it clear if the ability to jump to titles by letter in the alphabet is planned, a feature the original version had. Don't get me wrong, this preview version is already light years ahead of what we had before, I just wanted to make sure that what I have observed is on the to-do list before the complete version is released. Thanks for all the hard work you guys are putting into this client (and all the other moving pieces of this great suite of software).
Happy2Play 9780 Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 It has been reported many times before ever going to public beta.
ebr 16183 Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 Those items are planned. The relevant part of the post I linked to: Results in views are limited in some situations - If you have a really large library you may not be able to reach all your items at this time (except via search). We plan to create more views and ways for you to find your content.
pclausen 44 Posted January 24, 2017 Author Posted January 24, 2017 Thanks ebr. Somehow I managed to gloss over that line item. 1
ebr 16183 Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 Today's update happens to implement the "By Letter" view. This should allow you to get to everything. Some sort of paging and, probably, letter jump in the grid view is still on the road map.
pclausen 44 Posted January 26, 2017 Author Posted January 26, 2017 I see that now. This will totally do the trick for now. Thanks!
BAS 225 Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 (edited) Today's update happens to implement the "By Letter" view. This should allow you to get to everything. Some sort of paging and, probably, letter jump in the grid view is still on the road map. While I appreciate the new design and overall look and modernization of the app, I'm getting feedback from my users stating that getting around and getting to items is quicker in the old app. I know this view is limited and stated in disclaimer but I will pass on my feedback regardless on a server with large library. Users aren't happy about this at all, way more then 1000 items also the loading time even on local connection for this view was insane. Also the show more button on latest movies/tv try's to load in 1000 items and takes a long time to do so... which doesn't make sense for speed and efficiency for users some sort of limit there like 100 would make logical sense for a latest view. Also the letter selector has not gotten high praise from users as the older version of the app it was much quicker to get to the letter you wanted to enter, and show all of that letter within a few button presses. Either way, as it stands, getting around to browse my library the old app is winning. So I hope the additional views or ideas to get to my entire library is on the plans soon. Luke 42078 Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 @@BAS what in particular is your feedback on the letter picker? is it number of clicks required, or that the content doesn't load quick enough once a letter is selected?
BAS 225 Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 (edited) @@BAS what in particular is your feedback on the letter picker? is it number of clicks required, or that the content doesn't load quick enough once a letter is selected? It's just the overall speed of it compared to the previous letter selector. Few of them texted me last night, it's nice that it shows you the posters but it takes longer to get to the letter I'm after and entering it because its constantly loading posters, then when they finally got to a letter they had to scroll all the way to the right to pick show more. Then we they finally do this yes, its taking longer in the new app to generate the content on the screen then it did in the old. So I tested it, I open the old official app, entered tv library, move down one row to letter selector, scroll to M quickly and hit Ok, boom I'm seeing the M's. So we are talking seconds in old version compared to minutes in the new one. IMO the easiest fix with the current letter selector design in the new app, allow the users to click the letters above the row of posters to enter them, or put show more as the first option in each letter and perhaps the posters that are showing on the letter selector screen, can be like the latest B's by date added, etc so once again given the users the freshest content inside of each letter, before they hit show more and start digging. ebr 16183 Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 but it takes longer to get to the letter I'm after and entering it because its constantly loading posters, I don't see how that can be true. All letters are there and you can scroll to them immediately when the screen comes up. You don't have to wait for the posters to load. The other points are valid but I don't see how this one could be (at least in my testing). Your other issues will probably be addressed by providing a letter picker directly in the grid view.

You are correct that they dont have to wait for the posters to load in and just keep scrolling around to get to the show more etc... its just nowhere near as quick as what they are used to.
ebr 16183 Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 This limit is no longer there in 1.19.18. Still to come will be some sort of letter jump in the grid view to allow you to move quicker. 1

Happy2Play 9780 Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 You see you have Colections that are grouped in that view so a collection is one item. Example is your REC Collection=1 not 4.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 If you disable "Group movies into collections" you count should be close to right. Dashboard-Library-Display When displaying movie lists, movies belonging to a collection will be displayed as one grouped item.

Happy2Play 9780 Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Does the metedata manager show all three movies. My guess is the server grouped them as one movie since they are in the same subfolder.
