diaz1510 154 Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 I was going through some old episodes in emby and noticed that they are no longer matching what is on The TVDB.com. I had to go through, rename some episode numbers, pull the file out of my media collection folder, drop it into the folder I have Emby watching and then let emby do it's thing auto-organizing with the new TheTVDB metadata. It wasn't a big deal to do, but it got me wondering, how much else of my collection has been updated on theTVDB.com? Combing my collection episode by episode manually would be tedious and time-consuming. I know that site regularly updates their metadata. Is there any way to add a schedule task that will run a report to "check back" the media collection and run a report what is no longer valid? I guess it would be awesome if it was able to auto-correct as well, but even if it just ran a report to find what was no longer accurate, I could at least update the media files manually.
Happy2Play 9783 Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 Are you saying re-organize my collection as they change on TVDB? How would that work by SxxEyy id or episode name?
diaz1510 154 Posted January 27, 2017 Author Posted January 27, 2017 Not necessarily as I see how having emby re-organize the collection might create problems or be almost impossible. However, if there are shows that no longer match anything on TheTVDB then just have a report on those. For example, The Show Gold Rush. For a long time, all the episodes were included in just that show, with some specific episodes in the "specials" category. Well what I found recently (and I am not sure when the change was made) by accident was that ThTVDB had now broken out Gold Rush South America, Gold Rush Pay Dirt, and a few others, into their own TV Shows with their own IDs where as before they were all lumped into a very large Specials Collection (numbering well over 100). Back when i first downloaded them and had Emby auto-organize, it pulled fro the older TV Show ID. Like I said, once I went in and saw that it had been updated, I had to renumber the existing shows, create some new TV Show folders and move them al back into my Emby-watched folder so that it would auto-organize using the new IDs. It got me thinking how many other shows had been updated or modified by the TheTVDB moderators. that I DON'T know about. Hope I didn't confuse too much lol
