Metadata Bug? (Tray vs Service)

Hi, i had always run at startup, but disabled that and have been running as a service for the last 2 weeks.

 

I noticed today that since then when i added new media it was recognised and displayed perfectly, however, the xxxx.nfo and xxxx-thumb.jpg files where not being saved into the same folder with the media at it always had been.

 

So, i disabled the service, started the tray version and did a refresh and now they are being created correctly.

 

Seems like a bug to me, but let me know if thats intended for some reason (or if i did something wrong).

To me that would point to the permissions of the service login account.

Thanks @@Happy2Play, I'm using Server 2012R2 and I left the default "local system account" and Emby is installed under the only account on the computer ("administrator")

 

I guess they are not one in the same then...like i thought it was.

All depends on where/how your media is stored.  Is all the media local on that machine?

Yes, its all stored locally on the server (multiple drives). I checked the share permissions the only authorized account for changes is the "administrator" account, so that is why its acting that way and the library's are all UNC paths without access then.

This is all about permissions. I am sorry that you think this is an Emby problem, quite honestly it makes me question whether we still want to offer the service or not, because we don't like to see users struggling.

Hey @@Luke

 

It's %100 a user (ME!) problem, i assumed the default with windows would be within the administrator privileges that's all.

 

I would like to see the service kept as when i am not home and the server restarts for updates, then the family looses access as i do not want the server having no security and auto logging in.

 

Either way, the forum (as usual) helped fix it within minutes.
