BloodyIron 24 Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 I'm almost done setting up Emby how I like it, but the Trailer ecosystem seems very inconsistent. I was going to roll with Cinema mode on with 2 trailers before movies, but I'm just going to turn Cinema mode off because of how inconsistent the trailer quality is. What do I mean? Well, quite a bit of the time I just straight up get a video playback issue and it won't even try another trailer. Some trailers I get no audio on, and some don't even completely stream correctly. But, there are plenty that work as one would expect. I get audio, the resolution looks good, and all that. It seems like the community made/encoded trailers are pretty junky, but I've only tried a few, such as the "Alien Series" one which never gives me more than 7 seconds of playable video. Or the Die Hard trailer which never has audio. I don't know how exactly these trailers are vetted, but I'm very turned off by the inconsistency here, and I'm not even sure if Emby is spearheading this, or if it's an external group, or what. But I don't see this changing in the near future (due to what I suspect is the magnitude of fixing this). So I'm just turning Cinema mode off... My testing environment: Browser: Chromium Version 55.0.2883.87 Built on Ubuntu , running on Ubuntu 16.10 (64-bit) Emby-Server OS: Ubuntu 16.04 server I didn't really see anything helpful in the logs, also.
BloodyIron 24 Posted January 20, 2017 Author Posted January 20, 2017 I saw that this thread was moved to Windows/General. I'm not sure if it's relevant but I'm running my server on Linux. Is this the appropriate place for it to be moved? I dunno
Luke 42080 Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 I'm sorry, where you posted it was fine. Thanks ! 1
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 You can pull your own trailers off the Bluray and store them with the video. I am pretty sure they will take priority over the ones found on the Internet. https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Trailers
BloodyIron 24 Posted January 20, 2017 Author Posted January 20, 2017 Yeah, but I was really hoping to leverage the public records for trailers :/ You can pull your own trailers off the Bluray and store them with the video. BloodyIron 24 Posted January 20, 2017 Author Posted January 20, 2017 Well, I've disabled it for the time being as it was getting in the way with the occasional chance of the failure. But, is there anything I can do to help? Have you been looking into this earlier than now, or? I love the idea of Trailers though, so it would be awesome if this could be resolved! @@BloodyIron, we are looking into this, no need to disable it. thanks !
Happy2Play 9782 Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Isn't the only way around this is updating the trailers on TMDB, as that is where the like is coming from.
diaz1510 154 Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 (edited) I still can't get ANY trailers to play in ANY emby app. I've got cinema mode enabled with 2 trailers playing along with a custom intro I made. I've got it setup to play only trailers from my personal collection. About 90% of my collection has trailers stored in their media folders. Media goes straight to custom intro and then to the media, but no trailers EVER play. I posted about it awhile back and @@Luke said he would look into it but I got no response after that. FWIW, it used to work a few server versions back...can't remember which one it stopped working at though. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/43195-cinema-mode-not-playing-trailers/ Edited January 21, 2017 by diaz1510 1

BloodyIron 24 Posted January 21, 2017 Author Posted January 21, 2017 Sometimes these things take time. Now that we have some more examples of it breaking or something, hopefully that'll help pinpoint the source(s) of grief!

jordy 284 Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 yeah, maybe, but you never know. Have you tried the Dev server?
BloodyIron 24 Posted January 21, 2017 Author Posted January 21, 2017 Considering I haven't even had 24hrs with my Emby ecosystem being finished setup, I'm going to hold off on Dev updates for the time being. lol But I'll try to keep appraised as best I can and help elsewhere. yeah, maybe, but you never know.
