horstepipe 422 Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Hey I think it would be sensible to add an option not to save episode thumbs. I think in most libraries they are responsible for an excessive size of the thumbnails folder which can become a problem on systems with limited storage like the Raspberry Pi. Best regards
horstepipe 422 Posted January 20, 2017 Author Posted January 20, 2017 Kodi does this, caching of images in Kodi at that level is not configurable. But can't you just block Kodi from getting these images or rather don't tell Kodi where to find them?
horstepipe 422 Posted January 20, 2017 Author Posted January 20, 2017 you you dont want episode images at all, not show them in Kodi at all. Sorry I don't really understand what you mean.
xnappo 1611 Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 He is saying we could block them completely, but not caching them is a Kodi thing. That is not to say we will, just could block them completely.

That is not to say we will, just could block them completely. Blocking them completely (but only in Kodi) is what I actually wanted to ask for. Sorry that wasn't clear.
horstepipe 422 Posted January 20, 2017 Author Posted January 20, 2017 I absolutely understand that they are not being shown in Kodi at all anymore if this happens. But in my opinion these are the less important but the most storage expensive pictures, so for systems with only 32gb storage it would be really helpful.
xnappo 1611 Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 You can turn them off on the server. If you don't want to do that, we can add it to the Trello board and see how many votes the feature gets, but it is a bit hacky to add it to the addon. 1

I could live with turning them off on the server, but how do I get rid of the ones I already have? I don't store them with the media files...
xnappo 1611 Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Actually looking into the server more, I don't think you can turn them off just for episodes. @@Luke?
xnappo 1611 Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Nevermind - you can. Go to Settings->Metadata->Services Change the 'Customize for this media type' to Episodes Open the 'Image Settings' section Deselect 'Primary'. I don't know how to get rid of ones you already have without resetting all your artwork.
horstepipe 422 Posted January 20, 2017 Author Posted January 20, 2017 I don't know how to get rid of ones you already have without resetting all your artwork. Yeah that's the problem, most of my artworks are hand picked so resetting it is a no-go for me :/
xnappo 1611 Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Okay so now @@Luke - any way to purge images deselected from metadata?
Luke 42077 Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Unfortunately not really. I thought he said he didn't want that though? I may have mis-interpreted.
xnappo 1611 Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Yeah, that is what he wants, but it is a pretty niche scenario. At least if he turns it off now his image db won't continue to grow. @@horstepipe - you could soft link to a USB drive for your images or something..
