darrenkdean 31 Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 Good Morning, I would like to request a couple of new features for consideration: Expansion of Library Access selection per user account. Currently you can select which Libraries to include or exclude in a user's view, but you can't drill down deeper to the contents within each library. Over time, the libraries become crowded due to a variety of competing content preferences. Allowing users to customize the content they want to see & want to exclude from their view would make browsing more efficient & lead to a better user experience. From a parental perspective, I would like greater control over content for my children than trusting the TV Rating System. Enable Offline Server Access For Locally Synched Content With No Current Internet Connection We have a Fire HD 8 (Amazon Tablet) with a 200 GB SD Card (all in $80 - $90) for our son. His favorite shows & movies are synched between the Emby Server & the Emby Application on the Kindle. A PIN has been set for Offline Access. The Emby App does not permit us to log in to the Emby Server or use the app for offline content without an internet connection (think Road Trip) This would also work great for watching movies on a device like the Fire HD TV (travel box), evenings at the beach, mountains, vacation etc. where there may or may not be an internet connection available. As always, thank you for your hard work & consideration! Best- Darren 1
ebr 16178 Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 For greater control of viewable content you can use the Parental control system. You can create custom ratings for items and you can also use tags and the "Block by tag" feature to customize what different people see. Alternatively, you could structure your physical libraries into groups that fit the audience. This is what I've done. I have a library for series that only my daughter watches and I don't include that library in my access. Using the default behavior of grouping like content, you can make it so that everyone just sees "TV" as the library, but the content is tailored to them.

Good Evening, Thank you for your reply & suggestion. I took the time to go through this process for my wife & I as well as our son. A few things: Process of manually tagging each TV Series & Movie in the Library was rather tedious. The process was successful in limiting which content synched through to Kodi via the Emby AdddOn (approximately half of our devices). Despite tagging, it did not appear to limit browser content despite the user's block setting, in Microsoft Edge utilizing the latest .15 server build? Lastly & perhaps I'm missing it, is there currently an offline mode that works for Emby allowing the Emby app to play locally synched content while offline? Best- Darren
Luke 42078 Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 Hi, can you please discuss specific examples? Thanks !
Abobader 3464 Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 Good day, It will be best to have a thread for each request with clear subject for the thread title. My best
darrenkdean 31 Posted January 31, 2017 Author Posted January 31, 2017 Hi, can you please discuss specific examples? Thanks ! "For greater control of viewable content you can use the Parental control system. You can create custom ratings for items and you can also use tags and the "Block by tag" feature to customize what different people see." Parental Control -> Block By Tag: User 1 (Remove) TV Shows -> Little House On The Prairie -> Edit Info -> Tags: User 1 (Remove) Successes: Utilizing Kodi with the Emby AddOn, this method does remove the synchronization of "tagged blocked content" thereby eliminating content from view & access. Setbacks: This however, does not remove the tagged content from view or access in the Android Emby App, Microsoft Edge, or Chrome Browser. I don't believe it is currently functioning as intended here. Method of Customization Could Be Improved: While the method of tagging as described above could work, it's very timing consuming & difficult to manage on an ongoing per user basis. From a user experience & management perspective, it would appear that an expansion of the User Library Access section to allow drill down within Libraries & check box customization of whether or not the content appears within a user's library view, would be a "nice to have feature". Luke 42078 Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 Hi, I just tested this, and it does work but is currently dependent on data created by the library scan. So that means it requires a library scan or refresh of the item that the tag was applied to. We will have to look at making this not necessary for a future release. thanks.

Just purchased another lifetime subscription from you guys to say Thank You (don't need the code). You guys do great work! Confirmed, running a manual library update did the trick on all accounts. This method does work. Best- 1
Luke 42078 Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 Thank you. I've added this to our backlog to review it and make sure it's fully functional at the time the tag is applied. thanks.
