skidmarks 199 Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 (edited) Not sure if others would agree, but currently believe meta is being displayed using "album artist" tag. Would be better if it was looking at the "artist" tag instead? Have many albums with "album artist" = Various Artist (and "artist" = correct singer / band) . Playback on the roku is displaying Various Artist ("album artist" meta) across the top and then the song title... No where is the actual "artist" name displayed. Just throwing it out there... Audio is playing flawless! Thanks.... Edited January 19, 2017 by skidmarks
ginjaninja 605 Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 (edited) Imo In a purely visualization ui when individual content is playing..im not sure album artist is important. Less might be more. Imo on such a visualisation ui, album artist might just be screen clutter. Im thinking of the case where im playing a compilation album...great to see artist name, image and bio metadata in the visualisation but not sure about 'various artists'. In the rare case of an album with multiple album artists, the artist(s) NAME(S) will 99.9% of time be at least as interesting and probably more interesting than album artists NAME(S). When artist(s) is a subset of album artist(s) then album artist image and bio meta data is more important. When 1st artist OR set of artists are not a subset of album artists then artist image and bio metadata is more important. For classical im not sure if there is a strong case for album artist NAME in a visualisation ui? but all genres would benefit from their primary associated data to be included in the visualisation by name eg year, album, composer, producer, songwriter. Subject to availability and screen real estate. For non visualusation uis, eg album, track, playlist and search results view both names are crucial.
