MBC is setup to download metadata from the internet

 

However many of the movies (probably from MB2) have this disabled in there specific setting.

 

My question then is, I am assuming under metadata - advanced you would turn on automatic updates ?

But if I don't want it to always update - how long should it be on?

 

Also noticed there was no "back cover" downloader - maybe it would be good to add for Aztec and future ?

Hi there,

 

MB Server is the one that does all the metadata scraping for your collection.

 

It's funny you mention this as I was having a conversation with a buddy about the automatic updates and what it means exactly.  

 

Maybe @@Luke or @@ebr might be able to clear this up.  But I think its regarding missing metadata and artwork.  I have had these options enabled since MB3 has had them and none of my artwork or metadata has been meddled with.

 

With regards to backcovers.... I would have thought that the author of that skin would have included a downloader seeing as he is the only one featuring this. Also this is something that is quite new to fanart.tv so it will take time to get their library up.

it means exactly what it says. someone updates a movie on tmdb, you get the update immediately.

Correct - I meant MB server

 

Playing around with MBC and Aztec - that was what was on my brain.

 

image downloading - should be part of the core - simpler to manage, maintain - all metadata currently downloaded here

That being said - the Aztec developer maybe should help out somehow

As I understood it the backcover will be a part of the core as like all the other images.

Back to my question

 

Is there a way to enable auto meta data  downloading for the previous movies that had it disabled?

Without going through them 1 by 1 ?

@@hd4fun yes there is

 

If you go to the metadata manager (pen in circle next to mb logo on the server (in the black menu side))

 

You can click/highlight on any top level collection or even the Media Library (highest level) collection and ensure you have RefreshChildItems ticked.  Click the Refresh Metadata and all your collection will have its metadata refreshed.

If the items are locked - they have to be unlocked first - doesn't want to unlock do it for entire collection at once so

 

1) select locked item - metadata settings - select enable internet downloaders - save (important)

           you can sometime <ctrl> to select multiple items - works sometimes

2)after they have all been unlocked - best to refresh browser to check they are all unlcocked

     now you can follow cheesegeezers step to download all metadata

Exactly. The author of this theme did a lot of lobbying of folks like fanart.tv who will soon be adding full covers and loved these idea.

 

We just need a library of 500 images to start their section. All us early adopters are pretty much there already.

 

But thanks for the suggestion of a downloader Dave. I decided my time was better spent getting the community and respected resources like fanart behind the idea so we have a sustainable solution.
