bobhays 2 Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 I'm not really sure where to post suggestions so I thought general is a good place to start. So I'm pretty sure this is a very common request or thing people would like to do. Can we please group movies and shows into one card while browsing. For example, all the Harry Potter movies show up as 8 cards when browsing through my movies. I'd prefer if there was just one that said Harry Potter, and then like a TV show once I click on that I can decide which movie I want to watch. This would clean up the movie browsing experience. Now for the TV suggestion. Some shows have multiple series that count as multiple TV Shows but I think should be able to be grouped again. For example, Ben 10, Ben 10 Alien Force, Ben 10 Ultimate Alien, Ben 10 Omniverse. Avatar the Last Airbender, Avatar the Legend of Korra, Dragonball, Dragonball Z, Dragonball GT, Dragonball Super, etc. I would love if they could read the folder structure, For example Dragonball > {Dragonball > {seasons}, Dragonball Z {seasons}, Dragonball GT {seasons}, Dragonball Super {seasons}} but if we have to group them manually, that would be fine too. Please take into consideration these suggestions. I think many people would find them useful. Thanks!
Happy2Play 9785 Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 Depending on your setup there already is an option "Group movies into collections". This does not work with metadata in nested parent collection folder though.

This does not work with metadata in nested parent collection folder though. That's true but I feel like that is more of a workaround than an actual solution. It also doesn't solve the clutter when searching through movies and doesn't work for TV Shows. Basically it hits 1 of 3 problems. Edited January 15, 2017 by bobhays
Happy2Play 9785 Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 (edited) You can make Collections in Emby, Emby is just not going to work properly with you making folder structure collections. But currently all Collections only appear in collection view and via movies. As there is really no such thing as a TV Collection (just personal preferences). Edited January 15, 2017 by Happy2Play
Luke 42087 Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 Hi, what you can do is create a collection using the web app, and then enable "Group movies into collections". For movies this will do exactly what you're looking for.

Oracle 85 Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 I'd imagine you can do this in your file system as well. For example, use the file extension "-cd1" with the 1 being replaced by numbers 1-9 for the rest of the movies. I.E. Harry Potter & The Sorcerer's Stone-cd1.mp4 & Harry Potter & The Chamber of Secrets-cd2.mp4 would put this under the same folder in your server's display as an additional part.

Yes technically this will work although it's not the most graceful way of doing it.
