PlayNice 0 Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 I wondered if you could advise on how we can control access to devices that become pinned? If we delete a device, the user can still connect and the device appear again, on re-connect.We would like to be able to limit access to any pinned device, for various reasons.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 @@Luke Is there a reason this feature is Hidden now? class="deviceAccessContainer hide" Manage your Home with Emby Users
speechles 2055 Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 Dont you have similar under your dashboard >> users tab? Choose a user, then like the above. Deselect and the list of selectable with toggles appears.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 @@speechles What server version is that. In stable, beta and dev I get. And I can unhide that section via browser console.
PlayNice 0 Posted January 14, 2017 Author Posted January 14, 2017 Right ok so i have tested it the way you have said and even though the user is deletd and disconnected my end they can still access the server from there device even if there blocked or deleted its not dropping the connection there end
Luke 42078 Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 You can't restrict admin users from devices. That's just a safeguard against inevitable user error. 1

PlayNice 0 Posted January 15, 2017 Author Posted January 15, 2017 You can't restrict admin users from devices. That's just a safeguard against inevitable user error. so there is no physical way off disconnecting a device server side what happens when your involved in a vod sharing community your going to be stuck with unwanted connections
Luke 42078 Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 Sure there is. You can use device access for that just like speechles showed in his screenshot.
speechles 2055 Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 (edited) If the user is administrator, that setting is kind of irrelevant because of the scenario he (read as luke) describes above. If the user is not an administrator this works. I disabled emby mobile on my nexus 7, saved, and it denied me with that non-admin user. The error message is not as expected though, it says "invalid username or password", would be better if said perhaps, "this device is not allowed.". But this DOES work, I tested it and there is no issue here, move along.. haw. These are not the droids you are looking for. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk Edited January 15, 2017 by speechles
Luke 42078 Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 If this is a VOD sharing community why give every user admin access?
PlayNice 0 Posted January 15, 2017 Author Posted January 15, 2017 Sure there is. You can use device access for that just like speechles showed in his screenshot. this does not disconnect them buddy i have tested this on with 6 differant users you cant limit there connections and if you delete the user there still able to acces the server how is this possible i have really high hopes for emby really wanted to move away from plex please im more than happy to show you a video off this
Happy2Play 9780 Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 What are they using to access the server? A specific example. You are not referring to DLNA connections are you?
PlayNice 0 Posted January 15, 2017 Author Posted January 15, 2017 look im only looking for help with emby im not looking for sarcasm if this is all you can offer can you please refund my lifetime membership i signed up to today
speechles 2055 Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 (edited) If they are administrator they can wreak what is known as havoc. A condition where they can lock you out as easily as you can them. As luke again said above, the part where this is VOD community means each user should not be a full administrator. If they must also be administrator please explain. I would think too many cooks would spoil the soup. Ps. No sarcasm meant. There is humor involved to keep this on the friendly side. *nudge nudge wink wink* Edited January 15, 2017 by speechles

Right now I'm just looking to collect additional information to find out what the issue is. If you are saying that the device filter is not working in a specific scenario, then I will test it out and verify. Thanks !
PlayNice 0 Posted January 15, 2017 Author Posted January 15, 2017 What are they using to access the server? A specific example. You are not referring to DLNA connections are you? im using xbox / ps4 / mojo / philips smart tv i have an iptv community with 12000 members so the live tv function was the key point here as well as the vod im just perplexed to why the test subjects are still connecting. i would like to encorage all my memeber sto switch from plex to you guys but the disconnecting off devices is causing a massive issue
Happy2Play 9780 Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 So are we talking about connections via DLNA or users physically logging from these devices?
speechles 2055 Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 (edited) Wait, the key word I got it.. this does not disconnect them. That part you are right. It just makes it so next time they sign off, they cant waltz back in again with that device. I guess when that device with that user is connected and you disable that very device that user is using at that moment you hit save the server should immediately logout any users using disabled devices. Is that more what you wanted to happen? Edited January 15, 2017 by speechles

On that page is the send private message button. He gets paid for this stuff as you are a premiere member. ^__~ Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
