jimboz333 1 Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 First, thanks to all who have helped enlighten me to what I can do with this server. I am amazed at how easy it was once some of you took the time to DUMB it down enough for me. I am currently running the server on my laptop. I am picking up an older desktop this weekend (off craigslist for $50.) I am going to put the server on that and have it always running that way I don't need to use my laptop. All I would need to do then, would be to change the server IP address and add the new location of the hard drive that has all of my files, at least the way I understand it. Is this correct?
Solution Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted January 30, 2014 Solution Posted January 30, 2014 Install the server application on your new machine. If your media is on your laptop, copy it to its new location. Point the new server to your media. Update your clients to point to the new server IP. Shut down and remove the server app on your laptop. Remove any duplicate media if needed. 1
