m.br1975 1 Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 Trying to explain it better I can. The problem I noticed is that, if I upload previously "non-tagged" files, then Emby is not managing them properly, even if I modify their information through Emby nor through an external tagger program. Procedure for this test: a. I use "youtube mp3 converter" (a web site I know in order to transform a youtube video in a mp3 track, and to download it - completely untagged!) to download a couple of "Muse - 2nd Law" songs (Supremacy and Panic Station). Note: I chose these ones because I do not have any Muse songs in my library (I would like to understand how Emby works in this case - music from a user who is not aware of tagging etc...). b. Finally I fixed permissions for linux in 775 maurizio:emby and placed in the "Music" folder. Emby upload them, and, as I expected, they are now only visible when I search by track. c. Then I use musicbrainz picard to tag manually one of these songs (Supremacy): first I manually set its title album and artist by hand on picard, then I let it use "acoustID" to tune all other tag fields. All went great, now I have "Supremacy" properly tagged (cover included), so waiting for Emby to manage this change. After a while, Emby discovered something was changed, and update some information. Great! Some new entries appeared in some Emby sections: "album artist": Muse "artist": Muse I can see (in track list) the correct cover, the name etc... and I can play. But... in album view there is no "2nd law" entry at all. It seems that not all information have been updated correctly. d. Now, I try Emby to guess something pressing the "update" button on the "panic station" untagged song, and actually it did not find anything (how should it work?... I expected this, that's ok, it cannot guess without tags). So I decided to manually update song information from inside Emby ("modify info"), and I insert: title: "Panic Station" album artist: "Muse" artist: "Muse" album: "The 2nd Law" disc no: "1" track no: "3" <no cover> Then I re-enter through "modify info" once again. I see: title: "Panic Station" album artist: "" artist: "Muse" album: "The 2nd Law" disc no: "1" track no: "3" <no cover> Two things noticed: 1. It disappeared "album artist". 2. There is no "album" "The 2nd Law" in album view, again (and this time I expected it to be created/aligned by Emby, given that I inserted these info through its interface. Even the "search" did not provide results for "2nd law". Can you please advice or test this situation, please? MUSE - Panic Station The 2nd Law.mp3 Muse-Supremacy.mp3
Luke 42085 Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Hi @m.br1975, this issue is resolved for the next release of Emby Server Then I re-enter through "modify info" once again. I see: title: "Panic Station" album artist: "" artist: "Muse" album: "The 2nd Law" disc no: "1" track no: "3"
Luke 42085 Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 For the album tab issue, what does your folder structure look like?
m.br1975 1 Posted January 30, 2017 Author Posted January 30, 2017 I set Emby to look at some folders, for example:MusicMoviesetc.Inside these folder (Music) I place the "untagged" MP3 files. No complicated structure.
Luke 42085 Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 Can you please describe what the music folder structure looks like? Screenshots would be great, thanks !
Happy2Play 9785 Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 Sound like m.br1975 is just putting mp3 file directly in a music folder, so no structure.
m.br1975 1 Posted February 1, 2017 Author Posted February 1, 2017 This is my library, in an external USB drive, folder /media/maurizio/toshiba/Music. As you can see "MUSE Panic Station..." is there, no subfolder (other Muse title has been just deleted, so ignore it). "The 2nd Law" is inside Muse folder (this was a previous iTunes organized library, that software stored information this way, I simply copy and paste in the "Emby music folder"). All these contents are .mp3 and are not covered by digital rights, so they are accessible. This song was first completely "untagged", I let Emby upload in this structure, then I modify from Emby some tags (Artist/Album etc.). Conversely from the last time I wrote, this is what I just noticed: 1. this song saves and maintains information I inserted but I cannot find this new song in the existing album. 2. from songs list I can see "panic station" with no image, inside "the 2nd law" album, I can't see it. 3. I am not able to add this song to its album. 4. If I try to "refresh" the song information, even if I choose "Search for missing metadata" all the information will be reset (and I will lose all the information I manually set in it. 5. Even if I tag internally the mp3 song with Musicbrainz Picard, nothing changes, so I think internal mp3 tag structure is read only once, when the song is first added to the Emby database. Can you please advice on this? Thanks for your effort.
