I am wondering if its by design it revert back to 50% by default

IMO, its generally a bad idea to have source set to 50% and cranking up the home theater to compensate.

It produces bad sound and makes you jump when you switch to another source

A lot of time when I select a video to play in Emby, I notice unusually low output and notice the volume slider control set at 50%, like if its the default.

we save your configured volume in the browser's local storage for re-use later. if you're seeing it resetting, then you're either clearing browsing data, running in incognito mode, or something is clearing your browsing data for you.

Well yes, like many people, my browser is set to delete cookies/browsing history when I close a session or shutdown the pc.

I also use cCleaner once in a while, like many others.

So this is what always brings back the volume halfway? I know I'd never set it like that myself intentionally.

Ah I have EMBY Theater always defaulting to 100% volume, which I have to reduce when viewing on my PC.  Wish I could get a local device to default to something else.

I use the web server interface, it regularly reset its default output to 50%, my problem looks like your solution :P

Both apps will be behaving consistently very soon, however, they still saved your volume to browser storage so that still applies.
