Hi @@xarath, if you just added it to your library, then kindly wait for the library scan to finish and then you should have a duration.

Hi @@Luke, thanks for your help. However, I tried it again just now and it still doesn't work. Also, when I look in Manage Server->Library, the library scan is completed.

try refreshing the content from the web app detail screen.

Refreshing the content should resolve the issue. If it does not then please provide the information requested in how to report a problem. thanks.

Ok. Here it is.

Steps to reproduce the issue on Ubuntu 16.04:

1. Clean install of emby-server-beta version 3.1.269.0 beta:

sudo apt-get --purge emby-server
sudo apt-get --purge emby-server-beta
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install emby-server-beta

2. Create tests directories containing the same media with the same permissions:

sudo mkdir /export/data3/test
sudo mkdir /export/data3/test2
sudo cp -R /export/data3/embytest4/Aldous\ Huxley/ /export/data3/test
sudo chwon -R emby:emby /export/data3/test
sudo chmod a+rwx /export/data3/test
sudo cp -Rp /export/data3/test/Aldous\ Huxley/ /export/data3/test2

3. From the client, point browser to 192.168.1.10:8096

4. Go through configuration wizard adding /export/data3/test as a "Music" library and /export/data3/test2 as a "Books" library leaving everything else unchanged.

5. Wait for library scan to complete.

6. Play media in the "Music" library:

    Durations are there for every file in details view and when playing the file. Everything works as expected.

7. Play media in the "Books" library:

    No durations.

Attached are the server and transcode logs. Thanks for your help.

I installed emby-server-beta v3.1.270 and I get duration all right. However, I still can't resume playback of an audio book. My settings in the resume tab are 1%, 99% and 300s. I play a file that's 13:54 min long for 3:30 min then I press stop. When I press play again, there is no resume option, only play. The playback starts over from the start.

Attached is the server log. Thanks for your help.

Hi @@Luke,

I installed v3.1.272.0 beta and now, I get the option to resume or to play from the beginning. However, when I press resume, it plays from the beginning anyway. Attached is the server log. Thanks for your help.

Same problem in v3.1.273.0 beta.

I've tested, no problem found, but will keep an eye on it, thanks.

I just realized that the files get marked as watched even though I get the green overlay showing progress and the option to Resume from. I hope this helps pinpoint the source of this problem.

Posted

Well it's OK for a file to be both watched and resumable. does that make sense?

Posted

Yes, but they are being marked as watched even though they are not watched:

1. I listen to an unwatched 14 min file for 3 min;

2. I press stop;

3. The file gets marked as watched and gets the green overlay showing progress;

4. If I press play again, I get the Resume from option but when I click on it playback starts from the beginning.

When I try the same procedure with TV episodes, it works correctly. This is a problem with audiobooks...

I'm not able to reproduce this. Are you sure the detail screen shows the media info with the runtime? can you show a screenshot of that? thanks.

In versions 3.1.279.0 beta and 3.1.278.0 beta, I don't have the option to Resume from anymore...

Thanks for the report.

Same issue on 3.2.60.0 on Linux.  If I play something from Android or Kodi, I can see the stream in the web interface Dashboard, and the time will show something like:

0:23 / --:--:--.

When playback is stopped, a green check appears in the android app, and in Kodi the file is marked as watched.  If you attempt to play the file again, it simply starts over from the beginning.  If there is anything I can try that will solve this, I'm all ears.
