Mfusick 38 Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Hi All, I have a feature request for a duplicate finder. A plugin that could locate or show the media you have that is "duplicate". Many people with large libraries have a few different copies of things, some in one resolution and the same media in another format or resolution. I have some stuff that is DVD, MKV and ISO... It would be cool to have a plugin that shows this so I could figure out which I want to keep and which I want to delete easily. Of if you have two copies of the same thing for some reason, you could delete one. 2
AgileHumor 123 Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 'Media Center Master' application has some de-dupe functionality. It will auto update movies from the import folder with higher resolutions.
Mfusick 38 Posted January 30, 2014 Author Posted January 30, 2014 All Movies - sort by Name...? This is how I do it now, but then I have to manually navigate to the folders (different) which is a pain. My media is all set up on my flexraid server, inside folders. My organization is currently by type of media.. (example: BR RIPS, HD MOVIES, NON HD MOVIES, TV SHOWS, etc) So I have to navigate to say the BR RIPS, and also the HD MOVIES folders and find the movie (which I have 38TB total so it takes a while) and compare the resolutions and figure out which is the best one I want to keep, and which one do I want to delete. It's a slow process. A plugin that showed duplicated and also showed the video file info like resolution or audio and stuff would be really cool to navigate directly to the one I want to delete, or be able to delete it from inside the front end or server interface. But I am just wishful thinking I think. Just an idea I would use personally.
ebr 16182 Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 You could use the Web client's "Movie" view. It will show you all your movies regardless of physical organization.
Mfusick 38 Posted May 2, 2014 Author Posted May 2, 2014 I was told this feature might be coming in the future. Is that still on the radar ?

Yep, even if you dont use MCM to fetch your metadata, it does have the ability to show only dupes and it can show the resolutions, and file info, etc as well as paths and lets you go right to the folder with a couple clicks or simply delete what you don't want. This is how I do it now, but then I have to manually navigate to the folders (different) which is a pain. My media is all set up on my flexraid server, inside folders. If I have a HDRip then later grab a DVDRip, then later grab a BRRip.. I end up only wanting the BRRip and the rest go bye-bye. MCM Makes this a simpler process for me for sure. Until such a plugin or feature becomes available you might spend a little time checking into it. Good luck!
