all4dom 101 Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 Hi guys. I was just checking some folders on my server and I never uninstalled the mb server from it. Should Would this cause any performance issues with Emby? Is emby still using the images by name folder? Thanks all.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 No, the ibn got merged with the metadata awhile ago. So you may have multiple images folders now. If you look at the dashboard-path (click the drop-down) Metadata tells you the path Emby is using.
all4dom 101 Posted January 4, 2017 Author Posted January 4, 2017 the metadata path only has language and country.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 On the main Dashboard page, you may have to scroll down you will see Paths.
all4dom 101 Posted January 4, 2017 Author Posted January 4, 2017 I see your using whs 2011. Are you able to use 3 or 4tb disks with it. I thought whs 2011 can use 2tb disk or smaller.

all4dom 101 Posted January 4, 2017 Author Posted January 4, 2017 And whs 2011 does work on an ssd drive?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 Yep, I restored a backup from hdd to ssd. A fresh install is always better.
all4dom 101 Posted January 4, 2017 Author Posted January 4, 2017 If i become unsuccessful in figuring out a new server, is it possible for me to get a case, new board and processor and take my drive with whs from my hp pro liant and put that in the new machine and then reinstall it?
all4dom 101 Posted January 4, 2017 Author Posted January 4, 2017 What I'm finding frustrating is figuring out a new OS if I build a new server and if i go to a nas server, that is expensive if i get one with a I3 processor. I still have to build a new desktop or buy one so I'm squeezed cash wise having to do 2 units instead of one.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 (edited) One thing to consider is WHS 2011 has reached End of Lifecycle so there is nothing listed on how much longer or what Microsoft will update. Edited January 4, 2017 by Happy2Play
all4dom 101 Posted January 4, 2017 Author Posted January 4, 2017 They are not updating anything as far as I know. Just not sure which way to go server wise.
all4dom 101 Posted January 4, 2017 Author Posted January 4, 2017 I was hoping to start small and build a server but I'm stuck at what to do for an os. I like ms but their new server is to costly and not designed towards home use. Slot of the open os systems are not very user friendly. I can build something but I'm know nothing about open source software. I need something simple. Qnap Nas looks OK but I don't like the processor. To get an i3 it becomes expensive.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 Do you really need a server os? If your are not using the features then Windows 10 should work just fine and other topics mention getting Win 10 Pro for less than $10.
all4dom 101 Posted January 5, 2017 Author Posted January 5, 2017 My main use is really for emby and backing up my desktop. I thought about doing a desktop server combo but just not sure. I can't do.anything this second but I'll just keep doing my research. Thanks for all your input.
all4dom 101 Posted January 5, 2017 Author Posted January 5, 2017 I just checked the path for my metadata and the cache, logs, metadata & transcoding temp files are all listed in the mediabrowser server folder. I never uninstalled when i put emby on my server. Should i uninstall both and then reinstall emby?
all4dom 101 Posted January 5, 2017 Author Posted January 5, 2017 Could I or do I even want to use the ibn folder?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 Sort of, everything must reside in a \metadata folder. Best bet is point custom metadata path to where you want then move the contents of your IBN folder to that new location.
all4dom 101 Posted January 5, 2017 Author Posted January 5, 2017 Maybe ill just uninstall everything and then reinstall emby.
