Full 8.1 App Config Issue

I have been using the alpha version of the media browser theatre app on my htpc for a while without a hiccup. Today I saw the announcement that the latest version had been added to the windows store, so I grabbed it. However, the initial configuration (where you set the server address and port) wont work. I've used the exact same settings as the alpha (the alpha is still installed and working) and it won't connect to the server. Combinations I have tried are:

IP address

Computer name

"localhost" (obviously without the quote marks)

127.0.0.1 (just for a laugh) 

 

I've double checked the port.

 

The MB server is running on the same PC.

 

The error message it gives is "Host name not recognised". Does anyone know if the new store version of the app requires different permissions to the alpha?

The 8.1 app and MBT are 2 completely different things, but if you wanna try the 8.1 app and running it against your local server you will have to use a tool to bypass the restrictions the MS has on localhost.

Thanks 7illusions - I didn't realise they were separate - assumed we had moved out of the alpha release for MBT and that it came with a slight name change.

 

I'll look at the link you sent and have a play.
