mezza550 5 Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 Hi all, I can't seem to find this feature in Emby, so I thought I'd ask to make sure it doesn't exist. I would like to be able to browse a complete list of all the tags that are on my media files. Then when I click on a tag in the list, the videos with that tag are displayed. Possible? Thank you 3
mezza550 5 Posted January 3, 2017 Author Posted January 3, 2017 Well, I've discovered that collections can act in a very similar way to what I'm trying to do. Still curious to hear the answer to this one though.
Luke 42079 Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 Hi @@mezza550, yes we plan to expand on our tag features in a future release. thanks ! 1
mezza550 5 Posted January 28, 2017 Author Posted January 28, 2017 Thanks Luke. I've been using collections now for the last month, and while it's mostly covered my usability needs I still think tag searching is the right way to go. How soon / when do you anticipate that that feature will be rolled out? I would very much like to start taking advantage of that. Also out of curiosity, since tags are already supported in Emby, what is the use case for them? I mean if you can't search or select a tag to find relevant videos, what function do tags currently serve? thanks much,
mezza550 5 Posted January 28, 2017 Author Posted January 28, 2017 Another thought- if you have something, maybe I can help beta test? Premium user here
Luke 42079 Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 Yes it's definitely something we'd like to do, thanks.
bluemonkey07 590 Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 Try reports in the web client, it allows you to filter by tags 1
mezza550 5 Posted January 29, 2017 Author Posted January 29, 2017 Thanks Vidman, but I'm not seeing any options to filter by tags...
Luke 42079 Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 You can also filter by tags in the all movies and all tv shows screens. 1
Happy2Play 9781 Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 Thanks Vidman, but I'm not seeing any options to filter by tags... Open Reports, click the 3 dot menu, then click filter.
mezza550 5 Posted January 30, 2017 Author Posted January 30, 2017 (edited) Open Reports, click the 3 dot menu, then click filter. These are the options I see when I do that (images below). I've added screengrabs of the "view" and "filter" menus (edited out some info for privacy). No tag options, at least that I can find. I do have tags applied to some of the movies, so they should be discoverable. Thanks for the help! Edited January 30, 2017 by mezza550
Happy2Play 9781 Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 These are the options I see when I do that: Now click "Filter" from that screen shot.
mezza550 5 Posted January 30, 2017 Author Posted January 30, 2017 Sorry- I edited my post above instead of posting again. Yes I also clicked filter, but still no tags (see previous post, now edited)
Happy2Play 9781 Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 Assuming your media has tags in the metadata, you should see this in Reports and Movis/TV Filters.
mezza550 5 Posted February 3, 2017 Author Posted February 3, 2017 Hi guys, Yes! I can see it working now. I added some test tags, and they showed up. I believe last time I tried that I must had applied a tag, but failed to click the 'save' button. I can filter by tag now which is great, but still very much looking forward to seeing some sort of interface option for more intuitive tag selecting. Ideally there would be a page next to "Collections" and "Folders" called "Tags" which would present me with a complete list of tags. Upon clicking one, all the relevant video posters are displayed. Thanks again 2
mezza550 5 Posted February 5, 2017 Author Posted February 5, 2017 Oh? I am only able to generate text lists. Maybe this whole process deserves a youtube tutorial or something?
arsim 1 Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Anyone else found that the tag list in filter doesnt show all tags? (reports & media screens) Is there a hard limit to the amount of tags that are shown on these screens?
Luke 42079 Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 It might be capped at like 200 or some other high number. Will have to check. Thanks.
