hardlock 1 Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 So far, apart from my scaling issues with AMD hardware, I have been impressed with Emby. However I am now trying to expand on it's functionality and get the TV recording part up and running. Now I tested it all on my Desktop computer, and it worked well, apart from a few GUI glitches and bugs (Which I can outline for you later). However I dont have my Desktop on 24/7. As it's a bit of a money wasting beast. So Emby server is on a little media pc in my living room. However I have found that it just isn't man enough to run emby and NextPVR at the same time. When using the NextPVR TV players, I can watch the channels fine, In HD etc and record. No issues. Low CPU usage. However if I try to run it thought Emby. It starts transcoding, and well 100% CPU usage hits and everything becomes a crawl. Take around 5mins to open a TV stream and it's lags like a Slideshow. Now I get that emby must be transcoding for a reason to do with NextPVR API. So here is the big question? Will emby ever support PCI or USB tuners? I have three USB tuners that work very well. I just need a real program that can take away my stupid BT vision box and Youview subscriptions that basically make you pay for nothing. Emby really has the potential to be a set-top box killer. I'm just impatient haha
Luke 42078 Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 Yes this is something we'd like to do in the future, thanks.
