Z0m8ie 26 Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Hi guys, I've noticed that a lot of my cast and crew images are not populating despite there being images for them in the "People" folder. The only way I seem to be able to get them to populate is by going into the web browser and refreshing each individual movie.... Help appreciated as usual - Happy New Year
Happy2Play 9782 Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Do the people that do populate point to the same location as your people folder?
Z0m8ie 26 Posted January 1, 2017 Author Posted January 1, 2017 Do the people that do populate point to the same location as your people folder? Hi Happy, How do I find that out?
Happy2Play 9782 Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Hi Happy, How do I find that out? Navigate to someone, Edit Info and check the path. 1
Z0m8ie 26 Posted January 1, 2017 Author Posted January 1, 2017 (edited) Navigate to someone, Edit Info and check the path. Hmmm..... Its pointing to: C:\Users\Sam\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\metadata\People\T\Tom Hanks When I did a reinstall I set my cache via Settings/Advanced Cache path C:\Users\Sam\Pictures\metadata\People I thought that's where the server pulls the images from?. I'm confused now, I thought I had it all figured out. Can you explain what I need to do. I have a huge file of "People" that the servers not using, where does it need to be for it to use it? Happy2Play 9782 Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 (edited) Cache and Metadata are two different things. You want to go to Library-Advanced and set Metadata path. Now you will need to point the cache to somewhere else. You should see a cache folder in you C:\Users\Sam\Pictures\People folder that will need deleting. Note when setting this path you will want to use the parent folder as Emby creates /metadata folder so " C:\Users\Sam\Pictures". Edited January 1, 2017 by Happy2Play 2
Happy2Play 9782 Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 You will also need to manually move any images you want from C:\Users\Sam\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\metadata\People to your new location also. 1
Happy2Play 9782 Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Or move all your People to the default location in Emby-Server install folder. 1
Z0m8ie 26 Posted January 1, 2017 Author Posted January 1, 2017 Or move all your People to the default location in Emby-Server install folder. Thanks for your help Happy, really appreciated, I'll give that lot a try soon as the family finish watching Dance Moms
Abobader 3464 Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Good day, As Happy2Play said, also after you do the custom path for metadata restart your emby server. My best 1
Z0m8ie 26 Posted January 1, 2017 Author Posted January 1, 2017 Back again!, In my custom cache path: C:\Users\Sam\Pictures\metadata I have these folders: artists cache channels Genre library People Studio views Inside each of those folders are alot of other folders. I want to abandon the C:\Users\Sam\Pictures\metadata location and just have the default location. Am I right in thinking that I should cut and paste all the above folders into this location: C:\Users\Sam\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\metadata ?. Then delete the "C:\Users\Sam\Pictures\metadata location" and in settings\advanced\cache path - delete old path and leave blank?
Z0m8ie 26 Posted January 1, 2017 Author Posted January 1, 2017 Also in each actor folder there is an .xml file, do I need those?

Yes Edit The Cache folder is your custom path you set so if you don't want it there then cut and paste it back to C:\Users\Sam\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\cache. The rest of the folders listed would go in C:\Users\Sam\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\metadata. Edited January 1, 2017 by Happy2Play
Z0m8ie 26 Posted January 1, 2017 Author Posted January 1, 2017 Awaiting response in other topic. Was this for me?, what other topic?
Happy2Play 9782 Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Was this for me?, what other topic? Sorry at the time it was right under your topic. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/43175-problem-with-persons-files-in-metadata-folder/?p=402778
Luke 42080 Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 If you have changed anything outside of emby, then make sure to run the people refresh scheduled task. 1
Z0m8ie 26 Posted January 4, 2017 Author Posted January 4, 2017 I was just wondering, in each actor folder there is an .xml file, do I need to keep these?
Happy2Play 9782 Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 As of right now, no. But I think there still should be more discussion on this. 2
