Backfilling Images

I'm just now moving to Emby from a stand along Kodi database on a single HTPC.  Is there a way that I can mass fill images that I don't currently have like disk images?   As I go through my movies one by one, I'm seeing some that have thumbs and some that don't.  I'd like to find an easy way to manage the images.

Right now I have to open each movie and see what images are present and then handle them individually.

I tried checking the boxes for the images I want (disk, poster, thumb, etc) then refreshing the entire Movie library choosing to only download missing metatdata, but it doesn't seem to do anything.

Is there an easier way?

That is the correct way i believe it may just take some time to complete depending on library size

If you look at the metadata manager it will mark the ones with missing pictures.  There are a couple of icons denoting different missing images.

Personally though if, it's thumbs that are missing, I would just pop into the web ui, set the view mode to thumbs, and start scrolling.  That's what I did when I thought I had a use for thumbs.  Had to make couple hundred as lots of titles don't have an existing thumb image on fanart.

A tangetial issue with image management is, often there is an image that should be classified under "thumbs" but is instead a "backdrop".  I realize that's not an emby issue, but what would be cool is an option to see that backdrop image and have it point to the thumb position.  Currently, when I see this happening, I have to open the backdrop image, save it locally onto my server somewhere, then manually add it as a thumb.  Kind of a long, round-about process when I would think you could have it just point to the thumb position somehow.

Lots of these images option are more of a on demand now so as you navigate and the client need the image Emby gets it.

You could ensure you have "Download images in advance" enabled.  It a per library setting.
