Johnny Sideburnz 5 Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 I have been using MediaBrowser for years now and every time I turn around there is a new setup for collections. I have a huge collection of movies, concerts, stand-up comedy and TV Shows over the years I have created multiple custom collections. So the big question I am here to ask is there any way to back up the custom collections I have created!
Luke 42085 Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Hi, what exactly do you mean by custom collections? Are you referring to movie boxsets or something else?
Johnny Sideburnz 5 Posted December 28, 2016 Author Posted December 28, 2016 Yes I have custom built around 50 boxsets and I am wanting to back them up.
Luke 42085 Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Did you build them using the Emby web app?
Johnny Sideburnz 5 Posted December 28, 2016 Author Posted December 28, 2016 Yes, just finished them tonight. Been putting it off forever. All my cusom boxsets boxsets were still in MediaBrowser2 style even though I've been using MediaBrowser3 for around a year.
maximumentropy 24 Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 The directory %AppData%\MediaBrowser-Server\data\collections\ contains the collections on my system. On newer installations I think you will find it under %AppData%\Emby-Server\data\collections\
Happy2Play 9783 Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 How exactly are you creating the Boxsets/Collrctions as you still reference MB2 style?
Abobader 3470 Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 How exactly are you creating the Boxsets/Collrctions as you still reference MB2 style? Good day I guess he mean the tag "[boxset]" on the main folder of the collection. As we used to do, but not now days, best to recreate them back either by the plugin or simply from the web client, the reasons, your titles that within a one collection, can be in different locations. My best
Happy2Play 9783 Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 If that is the case then there is no back up required as your folder structure and content aren't changing. But note that format is no longer the preferred method of creating boxsets. A flat folder structure and using the boxset plugin to create virtual collection using the medias collectionid is the preferred method.
Luke 42085 Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Additionally, the backup and restore plugin in the plugin catalog can help with this.
Abobader 3470 Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Additionally, the backup and restore plugin in the plugin catalog can help with this. Good day, I thought I read somewhere that Ebr said this not supported any more for this. My best 1
Luke 42085 Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Ah ok. My mistake. @@ebr will need to clarify
ebr 16190 Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Yes, collections are currently disabled because they do not restore properly to a new environment - I believe because of embedded user or item IDs.
