Metadata keeps disappearing

Hi All

New user of Emby after years on MyMovies.

My setup: movies on my synology server which remains on standby until I switch it on. Separate movies folder on synology. Virtually all .mkv files.

My problem: when I set up Emby, it scanned everything. I also, separately, told it to rescan and it did a great job of refreshing all my covers and metadata. However, on a number of occasions now, I log back into Emby (through WMC), and all the metadata is blank. This requires me to go back to the dashboard and "refresh" all the metadata again. Its incredibly frustrating because half the time, the metadata isn't there and the display looks ugly. Is there any reason this is happening and a way to ensure that Emby ALWAYS displays the metadata already downloaded? Perhaps there's an option I'm missing somewhere?

Please let me know if you need further info.

Thanks.

Is your Emby server on a different machine from the media?  It sounds like maybe a media scan is occurring while the media is not available.  If so, you may want to turn off the scheduled task for the library scan.

Genius! I'll try that. Could you tell me where the option is?

Dashboard-Scheduled Tasks-click on the task to show the triggers.  You will need to delete the current "every 12 hours" trigger.  You can click "Add" to add a more appropriate timed trigger also.
