is there a way to bulk edit content?
i have a number of movies where the wrong rating has been downloaded (the US one where it should be the UK rating).

i can select multiple movies, but can't see a way of editing them all at once.

Chenks hit the nail on the head.  Emby is making assumptions about metadata which might not be correct.  One movie here and there is fine, but when it does it to hundreds of movies, there's a problem and it can't be undone easily.  No one should have to drop to a command line and regex the metadata.  There's NO way to tell Emby to stop attempting to be too helpful.

Thanks for the info, although Emby does not make assumptions. It simply does what you've told it to do by taking your metadata settings and using them to download metadata. If you think there is an issue please create a topic with a specific example. Thanks.

to see if they even have a UK rating for your movie?

the example is Casino Jack

it has a 15 rating in the UK.

Emby has given it an R rating.

TMDB has just an R rating.

 

now, i'm not disputing that the US rating is R, but what i don't want is Emby picking that R rating.
if it can't find a UK rating then leave it blank.

If Tmdb does not have the UK rating then we do fallback to US. We do not currently have any settings to leave it blank. But this could be a possibility for the future.

Didn't I have you change that?  Or was that only for US rating?  If no US rating don't populate rating.

why would you assume that the US should be the default when a particular piece of data can't be found?

the US isn't the world default, in case you weren't aware.

Understood, but most people would like to see something instead of nothing. Especially for things like the movie summary. Most people who can understand English would rather have English text as opposed to no text at all.

 

Images as well. Sometimes the English poster is the only poster available.

So by all means use English as default but that doesn't mean use US ratings.

TMDB information comes from the users so as a community user they depend on you to have to have the information you want.

Sounds very convoluted.

Emby downloads US data that I don't want because UK data isn't there. So I need to update TMDB so that emby can then get it.

 

I still say that emby should not download US data just because it can't find what I've told it to get.

 

And note that US does NOT equate to English, so the argument given as to why emby does it is not valid.

I'm sure you would also complain if no data was downloaded at all  - so having some is of benefit and a fail safe which most would agree with i suspect   even if they are not American!

We are open to alternative sources for metadata. Can you suggest one?

There is probably a delay between updating the website and when it becomes available through the api. Most of the providers have a delay like that. 

 

Emby will also cache for up to 2 days so you'd have to find the corresponding folder and delete it

programdata\cache\tmdb-movies2

maybe most haven't noticed it before?

as above, i am not saying don't pull down any data if no UK data is there, i am specifically talking about the age classification rating.

having Emby pull down US ratings is of no use to a UK user. an R rating means absolutely nothing to a UK viewer.

 

and as for an alternative source, well IMDB would be the obvious one.

IMDB will never be an option unless someone wants to pay the api fee.

Each provider has a different time frame between website and api information.

I'm with chenks on this one, and I posted about it before--not going to bother digging it up.  Just as Luke states, that "The vast majority of people would rather have some data as opposed to no data."   So, for the minority, Emby is making incorrect decisions (assumptions) with respect to metadata.

 

Bulk metadata editing has been requested before, but it's not the silver bullet.  From a programmatic view, I believe that having Emby be less helpful (as chenks is implying) is a boolean matter.
