dubs 1 Posted December 24, 2016 Posted December 24, 2016 Describe the issue. A rough timeline. - We started re-watching a slightly old TV show (about 10 years). Generally at least once during each episode, on an Amazon Fire TV Box, the video would stop and go back to the episode information screen. Clicking resume would start the show in the correct location. I put this down to the 10 year old .avi files, maybe a dodgy codec. - Newer 3.1 update came out, wondered if it would fix the above. - Since the 3.1 update (I should emphasise this might well not be the cause) other TV shows and movies are now stopping, including very recently encoded movies and TV Shows. This has now been replicated on a Samsung Galaxy Tablet. The tablet, when clicking resume, restarted the entire movie, very frustrating. Error Messages None have been displayed to the end user at all. Server Version 3.1.1.0 currently, but happened pre 3.1 as well. Logs Attached the current server log, issue occurred around 14:39 roughly today. No transcoding log generated. Additionally The current movie displaying this stopping issue also has the sound cutting in and out on the Samsung Galaxy Tablet, VLC plays the movie fine. I hope thats nice and clear server-63618184922.txt
Luke 42079 Posted December 24, 2016 Posted December 24, 2016 Hi there, is there an associated ffmpeg log from this playback attempt? If so, please provide that too. Thanks.
dubs 1 Posted December 27, 2016 Author Posted December 27, 2016 Hi Luke, If you mean an ffmpeg-transcode log from the same folder as the server log, nope, nothing I'm afraid! I can see some from other things I was testing over Christmas, but i think the Fire TV box direct plays without transcoding.
Luke 42079 Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Hi @@dubs can you please provide a copy of the media info as seen in the web app? thanks.
dubs 1 Posted December 27, 2016 Author Posted December 27, 2016 Hi Luke, The specific movie that I pulled the server log from has this info: VideoCodecH264Codec tagavc1AVCYesProfileHighLevel41Resolution1280x534Aspect ratio2.40:1AnamorphicNoInterlacedNoFramerate23.97599Bitrate899 kbpsBit depth8 bitPixel formatyuv420pRef frames4NAL4 AudioLanguageundCodecAACCodec tagmp4aProfileLCLayoutstereoChannels2 chBitrate109 kbpsSample rate48000 HzDefaultYesTitleUnd AAC stereo Default In case it helps, I mentioned that I first saw the playback randomly stopping issue with another TV show that was much older, the mediainfo for that is: VideoCodecMPEG4Codec tagXVIDProfileAdvanced Simple ProfileLevel5Resolution624x352Aspect ratio16:9AnamorphicNoInterlacedNoFramerate23.976Bitrate1018 kbpsPixel formatyuv420pRef frames1 AudioCodecMP3LayoutstereoChannels2 chBitrate128 kbpsSample rate48000 HzDefaultNoTitleMP3 stereo One final thing, over christmas I managed to test the media file the server log was for in a different android tablet and some other locations. None of them had the same audio issue, only the original tablet. However the playback randomly stopping doesn't seem to be.
Luke 42079 Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 Hi @@dubs, are you still seeing this with 3.1.2? Let us know, thanks !
dubs 1 Posted January 3, 2017 Author Posted January 3, 2017 I'd installed some plugins and was pending a restart, didn't realise that hides the normal pending update notification . I've updated my server and will let you know if I see the issue again, thanks for keeping communication up
dubs 1 Posted January 5, 2017 Author Posted January 5, 2017 It happened again today. There does seem to be an ffmpeg transcode log from around the time, apologies I didn't mark the specific time. I've attached the relevant logs. I know I'm not meant to concatenate the server log file, but it was 60MB, it seems someone was trying something against the emby server and 58MB of the log file was that. Apologies! ffmpeg-transcode-c899f383-4ea8-47b5-9d66-805de8f71248.txt server-63619221237.txt
Luke 42079 Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 avi's are always problematic. it could just be something with that file. can you try a simpler file like an mkv or some other container?
dubs 1 Posted January 5, 2017 Author Posted January 5, 2017 Will do, when the issue originally appeared it was with the same old AVI files so I Did wonder if they were the issue. I'll update some more specifics if I see it again with a more modern format .
