VERY vague instructions for Emby connect

I just want to be able to invite a few friends to my server...that is all. This should be a VERY SIMPLE procedure!!!! WTH is with this two separate logins and crap, having to add a server or something....WHAT?!!!!!

 

HOW DO I JUST INVITE A COUPLE FRIENDS?!!!!

 

So far I really like the features of this app much better than Plex...BUT, I gotta say the way you invite friends to a Plex server is SIMPLE and just MAKES SENSE! I don't have 5 different steps to take, just put the users email in, click a button, and they are invited...DONE!

 

How about making it that simple on Emby in the near future...all this jumping through hoops just to simply invite a friend is stupid to say the least. Other than that, beautiful design guys. (Software Systems Engineer)

 

As of right now I have premier and still cannot get this damn thing to simply add a friend to the users for remote connect.

Yes I know where the server logs are, would be happy to send it. Just tell me where on this forum I can attach a file please. Tried to copy/paste and this seems to be too large for your forums to allow...

 

On another note, although your response time and support so far is excellent....PLEASE feel free to contact me at anytime about setting up a proper support ticket system which would support your and your users needs much better...not to mention be much easier for you folks on the support end...MUCH EASIER.

The how to page list a couple options to upload large files to "Paste2 or a DropBox".  If you click "More Reply Option" you will see the attachment options also.

 

Does canyouseeme.org show your port open for external connections?

Log file is now attached! yay! Also, thank you for all the assistance everyone I have been getting quite frustrated with this thing. Mostly because the ability to invite friends is a deal breaker and so far out of all the video server applications like this one I have tried all lack many features that Emby just has so I REALLY want Emby to work for me.

Hi @@dreamwc, I have reviewed this log and I do not see the invitation request. Are you sure this is the log from the time you attempted it? Do you mind trying again and providing a new server log? Thanks !

Ok, so I started checking the log file myself, and also the open ports, etc. Eventually it was acting really wiggy so I decided to completely remove it from my computer, backups and all. rebooted my computer, then reinstalled a brand new downloaded copy of Emby. guess what happened...IT ALL WORKS PERFECTLY NOW! Including better playback and sharper images!

 

So feel free to delete this topic if you like as it appears the issue all along was a bad install. Not sure what didn't install correctly but removing and reinstalling fixed everything. It registered the server like greased lightening, added users by invite without a hitch, everything is smooth now.

 

Thank you everyone for all your time and assistance in figuring this issue out, I truly appreciate it.  =)

Actually I think there is work for us to do here. If the connection fails to our connect server due to port not being open or some kind of firewall restriction, then you still get the generic message about making sure you've created an account. So I think what needs to be done is the error message needs to be more specific. You probably could have avoided the re-installation just with the port changes.
