gcoupe 63 Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 I've just installed the 1.2.0.30 version of the MB3 App. It's got new features that I look forward to exploring. However, one question I have is: does it support navigation of Menus of ripped DVDs? I rip DVDs to my media library and store them in VIDEO_TS folders. When I use MB3 to playback such a video, it will display the root menu of the DVD, but there seems to be no way to navigate it. If I touch a menu item, then the MB3 App just brings up the Pause screen. Is there a hidden way to navigate, or is this not possible in the current version? Thanks.
Luke 42077 Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 it is only possible in clients that can play the dvd directly. any client that has to use the server's transcoding will not be able to support menus.
Luke 42077 Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Yea we're pretty dependent on them in this regard.
gcoupe 63 Posted January 28, 2014 Author Posted January 28, 2014 Ah - thanks for the clarification. I'll have to ponder over whether I should embark on converting my library into MKV files then...
gcw07 347 Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Really you should consider it. Playing back folder rips is experimental at best and while it works most of the time it isn't guaranteed to work and unless ffmpeg makes improvements to it, no improvements are coming to MB for those type of files for clients like Android, iOS, Roku, etc.
