FlsPrpht 0 Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 I am using Emby version 3.1.1.0 and I've been having trouble in that some specific movies never show up in the library despite rescans. In this case I've got all 3 of The Dark Knight collection. I had auto box set enabled, but have since uninstalled it. I have tried moving the movies to another location and they still don't show up. When I had auto box set installed, it would make the collection (in it's XML file) but none of the the movies them selves never showed up in either the collection or the overall movie list. I've attached some logs of my last scan. When I search it, I can see collection was deleted (as I had explicitly deleted it when I searched my library and it was empty). Other than that I can't see anything in the log which indicates what is can and cannot find. I don't know too much about how this DB works. Perhaps deleting the parent folder from the list of movie library paths? Anything else I can try to delete? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Andy Log.txt
Happy2Play 9780 Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 What is your folder structure? And library content type set to?
FlsPrpht 0 Posted December 22, 2016 Author Posted December 22, 2016 F:\Actions\Comic Book\The Dark KnightAll movies (both ones which work and these) are MP4
Happy2Play 9780 Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 And the Library path? Will have to do some testing but haven't seen a nested folder structure for movies yet.
FlsPrpht 0 Posted December 22, 2016 Author Posted December 22, 2016 (edited) I have several paths in my movie library. All of them are one level off my F drive. F:\Dramas F:\Actions F:\Comedies F:\Documentaries F:\Family F:\Horror F:\Musicals I have other multi-level folders within this structure and they seemed to all work. Luke 42078 Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 Hi @@FlsPrpht, can you show us screenshots of what the folder structures look like? Additionally, can you show us screenshots of what you do see in the emby web app? thanks !
FlsPrpht 0 Posted December 22, 2016 Author Posted December 22, 2016 What screen shots within the web app are you looking for? How the folders are configured, or the fact that the movies aren't showing up? I will post all pictures later today when I get home.
FlsPrpht 0 Posted December 22, 2016 Author Posted December 22, 2016 Here is a screen shot of some of my foldershttps://drive.google.com/open?id=0Bxe42BOHP4sDTG54NDJ0VjBORUE
Luke 42078 Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Hi @@FlsPrpht, are any of these folders marked hidden by any chance? thanks !
FlsPrpht 0 Posted December 29, 2016 Author Posted December 29, 2016 Nope. Even tried different folders. Pretty much the only thing I've not tried is re-ripping the movies from the DVDs.
CharleyVarrick 283 Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 (edited) I experienced some missing movie issues here, here's how I handled it: I navigate to the missing movie folder and it's NFO file, providing there's one, and look for how Emby id'ed it, and found a few that were incorrectly named (0.5%). Then I search the incorrect name in emby server and re-identify it. Hope it helps... Edited December 29, 2016 by jlr19
FlsPrpht 0 Posted December 29, 2016 Author Posted December 29, 2016 I have never seen any NFO files. I have them enabled (see attachment). I assume they're in the with the metadata somewhere, however I searched that folder and my entire drive with my movies and could not find these files. Are they just files with a .NFO extension?
jordy 284 Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 (edited) You probably have the .nfo files saved "Hidden". In Windows explorer, Open an Explorer window, choose the "View" tab and make sure there's a check mark against "Hidden items" and "File Name Extensions" You should then be able to see them. If you don't want them saved as "Hidden Files", open the Emby Dashboard / Library / Advanced and make sure that "Save Metadata and Images as hidden files" is NOT-checked. FlsPrpht 0 Posted December 29, 2016 Author Posted December 29, 2016 (edited) I don't think so. I never hide anything in Windows. See attachment. Edited December 29, 2016 by FlsPrpht
jordy 284 Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Just looked at the pic in your post and note that you have .xml as the first (top) metadata saver in Emby settings. Set this way, Emby will look firstly for an .xml file, if it finds one it will use that and subsequently will NOT create an .nfo file. If you open the xml file it mostly contains exactly the same metadata as an nfo file. If you want to save .nfo files you need to put .nfo above .xml on that list in the pic. This will create .nfo files regardless of there being an existing xml file.
FlsPrpht 0 Posted December 29, 2016 Author Posted December 29, 2016 Okay. I couldn't find any information about the missing movies in the XML files except for the Batman Begins and sequels being put into the Batman collection. Flipped over to NFO files in the server config. Will give the server to time to start creating those files instead of XML files. None there yet.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 (edited) What is your Library Metadata/Artwork option? Save artwork and metadata into media folders (yes or no) Edited December 29, 2016 by Happy2Play
FlsPrpht 0 Posted December 29, 2016 Author Posted December 29, 2016 (edited) Yes I have performed a library scan. Save artwork and metadata into media folders: no. I didn't want my media folder cluttered up. I assume answering no just puts the metadata somewhere else (i.e. the metadata cache folder). Edited December 29, 2016 by FlsPrpht
Happy2Play 9780 Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Correct. If you use the search feature does Emby find any of these missing movies?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 I replicated your "The Dark Knight" file and folder structure, server found media without issue but it was with save metadata and artwork with media. Will have to test with that off.
FlsPrpht 0 Posted December 29, 2016 Author Posted December 29, 2016 It's also possible I have to re-rip the DVDs. Maybe my files are bad...
Happy2Play 9780 Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 It's also possible I have to re-rip the DVDs. Maybe my files are bad... Well simply selecting one and trying to play it via explore would prove that. But even if the video was corrupt you would still see it in Emby as I create dummy files all the time that are zero bit files. So I doubt that will make a difference.
ebr 16181 Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Are there any parental control settings in play...? 1
