Does it happen in the web app?

Yes, just tried with Safari and Firefox on Windows 10.

In your home screen settings have you enabled an option to group views together?

Yes, if I enable the tick box that's unchecked in the screenshot I have the problem.

If I uncheck it as per the screenshot I don't have the problem, but then recorded Movies don't appear in with the other movies.

Right OK. Workaround for now is to uncheck that option. As an alternative to this checkbox, under live tv settings you could set a custom path for recorded movies, then add that custom path to your Movies library.

Unchecking that box has been the workaround since I created the thread.

When I have recorded a new film I remember to check the box to see if it will work and has been fixed which is when I reply....

Try unchecking the grouping feature.

Yes, as before that has always been the workaround for the problem....

We should never have added that grouping setting.

So how to resolve the issue? I have grouping unchecked (as a workaround) and sports other one off shows are being displayed as movies in the AndroidTV app?

@@ebr any ideas?

Well that's different. However I would do nothing because the home screen of the Android TV app is being updated to match the web app.

When is the update due? Is it in the beta app yet?

Yes, it is in beta.

I'm running the latest beta 3.2.70.16 and I just added a path to m y recordings under DVR settings. That automatically created a "Recordings" (Mixed) under Library, which is fine. My recordings are pretty much only news and some sports. They all appear under "Latest movies" in the web client, Emby Theater, Roku Client, Emby for Kodi and Apple TV. I have not checked any of the options to group library folders.

I would like to chow my recordings in it's own library folder/node (Recordings), but I do not want it to "contaminate" my "Latest movies" view in any of the client apps.

It seems like Emby assumes that all my recordings are movies, and just places them in my "latest movies" view, which is totally unwanted.

How do I prevent that?

Edit: Seems like some sort of work-around was to uncheck "Recordings" under "Home screen content", but a sideeffect of that is that "Latest Recordings" is not showing either.

Better than having my "latest movies" view polluted with news clips but I would have preferred it if items from "recordings" did not show in any "latest movies" views with the above option checked, in other words not to assume recordings are movies. Can't have it all I guess, or can I? :)

The "Latest movies" section on the Home screen of pretty much any Emby client :)

I'll re-enable the "Recordings" option under "Home screen content" and take a screenshot when I'm back home.

The web app doesn't have a latest movies section unless you happen to have a library called Movies.

This means one of the following is true:

  • You have enabled the library grouping feature after all
  • Or your recording folders are also part of your Movies library

Yes I do have a library called movies :)

None of your statements are true. Will do some more testing and post screenshots tomorrow, no time today.

I've done some more testing on this. What seems to happen is that recorded TV programs that Emby cannot identify is classified as "movies", so they end up mixed with my other movies in "Latest movies" views.

Luckily my recordings are organized in a folder structure so I just marked the "parent" folders as "Shows" in metadata manager. That took care of it, now they end up mixed with my TV Shows instead, which is much better. The problem is that folders "comes and goes" as recordings are being made and deleted, so I'll have to redo this once in a while.

The integration of recordings with other media is actually quite clever, but there is a challenge is that often Emby will not be able to correctly classify/identify a recording just based on a filename.

So I would like to see a (configurable) option not to mix recordings with any other content in any other views. That way we have a choice, and those who have very structured and easily identifiable recordings can chose not to enable this option.

In that case what you will want to do is configure separate recording folders for movies, series, etc, and make sure these folders live in different libraries with the proper content types. And then we can also add more settings to configure locations for sports, kids, news, etc.
