Looking at Movie backdrops the search only looks at backdrops and upload option only uses backdrops type.

So can Studio/Network be configured the same?

ok, I'm gonna try explain the issue better, while browsing media/tv/networks, I noticed most of them had their names showing right under their pictures, whether with or without logo, but a few had their names showing over the logo (see first pic). In this example, I had previously googled logos for ABC (US) and Canal+, which I left as default type Primary.

If I select Amazon and Edit Image, then hit the looking glass, here's what I get:

This is expected and from there, I could re-use the logo for a different type than Thumb. Please note the Amazon logo was found automatically by Emby.

Now if I do the same steps as above, but instead choose ABC (US), here's what I get from the looking glass:

There's no picture, whether primary or thumb, all types show nothing. The only difference here is I downloaded this ABC (US) logo myself.

Why Emby cannot find back a user-added picture, as opposed to a pic it scraped automatically is the question I'm asking.

the search image dialogs don't pull from existing library content, they query the image metadata providers. it's a possible improvement for the future. for now you would just have to use the upload function.

Understood, thanks. A suggestion then: when one upload a picture, in this Network logo case, it should default to proper Thumb type, as opposed to Primary so in the end, it would look more uniform (name caption under logo instead of over it. (I just hate having to do the same thing twice...)

I wish you a great 2017 to you and your team, cheers!

Yes, since Network/Studios only appear in Thumb/Landscape view why would default upload be Primary/Folder?  If there were a view option for Poster vs Thumb then this would make sense, but there is only one option Thumb so upload should default to that option.
