stevendom57 3 Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 (edited) I am new to MediaBrowser3 but have been using version 2 for a long time. Is there any way to delete a video file from a media library? I would prefer to do it from the Media Library on the server but doing it from a client would work too. I would like to be able to clean up my files in the Media Library of the server by looking to see which files have ben watched and deleting those. I don't want to do it automatically, just give me a button to press. I could do it directly on the file system but the MB3 interface is so great ... Thanks Steven Edited January 27, 2014 by stevendom57
ebr 16169 Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 I think MBC is the only client that currently implements any delete functionality and it is a hidden option at the moment because it is so dangerous. I will probably be exposing this soon (with appropriate warnings) but, for now, you will have to edit the individual user config files and set two options to true: EnableAdvancedCmds and EnableAdvancedDelete 1

I will probably be exposing this soon (with appropriate warnings) but, for now, you will have to edit the individual user config files and set two options to true: EnableAdvancedCmds and EnableAdvancedDelete ebr, I have this enabled in MBC and find it very useful for WMC Recorded TV. These are large files that I watch and then delete. It is nice to be able to stay within the MBC client to delete. I would like to see this as a configurable option across all Client platforms. I understand it can be dangerous in the wrong hands, but if each client could make it available only to Users with ADMIN privileges and have it DEFAULT to being disabled. That would provide protection for initial installs and configuration setup. Only an ADMIN user could then ENABLE the feature if desired. stevendom57, I have noticed that a DELETE option is available in the WebUI for RECORDINGS that are in the LIVE TV section. I don't see this option for any other items in my Collection, but only for WMC Recorded TV files in the LIVE TV section. Not sure if that is by design, but it seems like it might be possible to have available for all of the collection.
ebr 16169 Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 It is just a matter of all the other clients implementing it. The feature is there in the server. As for MBC, I will most likely restrict the ability to delete to Admin users. Not just the ability to set the option.

The DELETE functionality would only be available to an ADMIN user. Nice to hear it will become a configurable option. Thanks.
