Deathsquirrel 745 Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 (edited) My app updated tonight and now I don't have sound from DTS-HD sources. TrueHD is direct playing, which is awesome, and DTS-HD says it is too, but one is lying I can get you logs or media info if desired but it's happening consistently so I'm guessing it'll be an easy reproduction. Server is 3.1. Edited December 20, 2016 by Deathsquirrel
Deathsquirrel 745 Posted December 20, 2016 Author Posted December 20, 2016 As it's a stupid xbox one and processes every damn thing through its sound chip, the receiver says DTS. That's all the receiver ever says with the xbox if you enable DTS as your bitstreaming mode. I rebooted the console and now True HD is back to direct streaming instead of direct playing. No change with DTS-HD.
m-joy 15 Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 All my sound is gone after the update on xbox one lol. Even normal dts....
Luke 42078 Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 what is your xbox one connected to for audio?
Smok@zz 4 Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 +1 for this. I would like to join this conversation as I have noticed that LiveTV playback after the most recent upgrade will not have any sound. The version before did not show this behavior. Interestingly, DVR recordings are not affected. My xbox is connected to an A/V switch via toslink which passes that to my samsung surround sound system, again with toslink. If you need more info then that, please let me know. I can also supply you log files if needed. Thanks.
m-joy 15 Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 My xbox one s is connected via high quality hdmi cable with an av receicer.

Luke 42078 Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 In Xbox one system settings there are settings related to DTS bitstream. How do you have them configured?
m-joy 15 Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 (edited) Hello. Mine is set like on the picture. I do not get any audio from DTS, no audio on DTS HD. But i get Audio from ac3. But when i play ac3, the receiver still displays dts. The receicer actually always Displays dts... My receicer can play all hd audio formats including atmos. Edited December 21, 2016 by m-joy

Everything worked well except that I noticed no audio when playing a LiveTV channel. When playing a recording though, audio played fine. I pulled the transcode logs to see what was going on, but saw no difference in the logs between livetv stream, and recording playback - they're both AC-3 original stream, and it's copying the audio, not transcoding it. On one of the tv channels I played wiht, there were two audio tracks - one a 5.1 and one stereo - and when I tried to switch between the two on the xbox, it just said something like "no compatible audio stream" or something. I've attached the transcode logs - the only one where audio failed was the "livetv" one. ffmpeg-transcode-recorded.txt ffmpeg-transcode-library.txt ffmpeg-transcode-livetv.txt
thephins 1 Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 I'll add another +1 to this as well. My previous recordings and movies all play fine, and if I use Edge instead of the app then LiveTV works as well. My xbox is hooked up straight to the TV, no receiver. 1
puithove 209 Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 Yes, forgot to add that - HDMI straight to TV, not bitstreaming.
Deathsquirrel 745 Posted December 22, 2016 Author Posted December 22, 2016 For what it's worth, I'm configured for HDMI bitstreaming. Wired to receiver that supports these formats and then from the receiver to the TV. Not that the xbox actually bitstreams, regardless of what nonsense it labels its settings.
m-joy 15 Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 I get Sound back for dts and dtshd on xbox one s with todays update. Even tho the receiver dies show dts as default. Not sure if it is bitstream. But sometimes movies get stuck for some reason
Luke 42078 Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 We have an update in progress that will resolve that, thanks. 2
Deathsquirrel 745 Posted December 23, 2016 Author Posted December 23, 2016 We have an update in progress that will resolve that, thanks. That will surely be my favorite patch ever. 1
puithove 209 Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 We have an update in progress that will resolve that, thanks. Since we seem to have two issues in this thread (dts audio & LiveTV audio)... could you clarify if the pending update includes fixes for both?
PrincessClevage 175 Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 I started a new thread for the same issue and just read this thread. Basically same symptoms no sound with live TV or recorded tv but movies play with sound. Xbox connected directly to tv via hdmi and xbox sound setting is set to "stereo uncompressed"
PrincessClevage 175 Posted December 24, 2016 Posted December 24, 2016 Just thought I would provide an update. Live TV and recorded tv sound is now playing as expected on xbox. Thanks for the quick fix
m-joy 15 Posted December 24, 2016 Posted December 24, 2016 Dts movie now makes emby on xbox crash. Black screen and thats it. I would not call that a fix
