I'm using emby on an HTPC in my living room. It is used as my main source of tv. Has tv tuner card and all. It goes into an s3 sleep and wakes for recordings etc. for some reason over the last month, the server doesn't start back up on system resume, I have to manually start it back up. What might be causing this?

Are you saying the process is no longer running when you wake the machine up?

Is the user that runs the server being logged out?

Yeah, I have to re launch server almost everytime I wake the computer. It's been doing it for about a month

Shouldn't be. The user has no password. And it auto logs in

And you have the server set to run on log-in?

Yeah, been running flawlessly for 3 years

I get this issue too. I think it is caused by having both MB3 and Emby servers installed. I'm not quite sure how to resolve without breaking things. Can I uninstall the MB3 Server?

They are the same.  Or are you referring to old versions?

I have both servers installed on my HTPC. Should I remove one of them? It seems that the process is labeled as Media Browser Server and not Emby Server on my HTPC. I should be able to look again tomorrow to confirm.

The process (MediaBrowser.ServerApplication.exe) never changed when MediaBrowser rebranded to Emby.

I'll take a peak at my task manager.

In the mean time, I cannot access Emby remotely because I had some issues needing a re-boot this morning and I forgot to load the server manually before I left the house. I can log in via Team Viewer and fix it because RDP is not an option due to the Emby Server running on the auto logged in WMC user name. On my list of things to do is to move the Emby Server to another user name so I can remote in with a log in to do things that can only be done on the host machine. It hasn't made it from the long list to the short list yet. Getting Emby to load at start up would be nice. It is in my start up tasks so I'm not sure why it isn't loading.

Why do you think you have two servers installed?

Ok, I'd like to get this back on track.

So i poked around today, and was looking in services. I have an Emby Server and a Media Browser Service. Neither one runs, it complains that the files cannot be found when trying to start either one. Should i uninstall and reinstall Emby?

I looked in my Task Manager and sure enough there's only one PROCESS running. I didn't look at Services because it is my understanding that, even though the services show up in the Task Manager, they aren't used. This may be why you cannot load them but I'm not sure. It even says it on the Settings page but I think there's more information about running as a service versus a process on here somewhere but I don't know where as I don't use it. @@Luke can probably point us in the right direction.

That said, My Emby Server is still not loading automatically at start up but Start Server at Startup is enabled.

What do you need from me to figure out why server isn't auto starting?

Why don't you first try a system reboot, and then tell us if it auto-starts then. Thanks.

I can confirm that this did not work the last time I rebooted because I left for work and then later had to remote into my HTPC to load the Emby server manually.

Is there a shortcut for Emby in your startup folder

C:\Users\HTPC\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
