DTS-HD media flag not correctly set on adding movies

Hello,

I have had this issue bug me for ages and had some time to do basic testing.

I have the following occurring:

1. A third party application doing file renaming to include DTS-HD

2. EMBY server doing my media scrapping on my NAS.

3. EMBY web app confirms in Media Info that the audio stream as DTS-HD MA

When movies are added to Kodi via the add on they appear as DTS movies. All other formats are added correctly i.e. TrueHD, DD, AAC etc.

Now after some testing today I noticed the following with the stable EMBY for Kodi add-on v2.3.6:

1. On Kodi 16.3 for Windows, Amlogic LibreElec 7.2.09 and MinixXBMC 16.3 if I play a movie then exit the icon updates to DTS-HD. It persists across closes and reopens of Kodi.

2. However one a library scan completed it reverts to DTS.

Note this promoted me too look at the *.nfo for the movie and under <audio> it has DTS not DTS-HD. I am not thinking this is a scrapping issue

Thanks for you're help

Thanks for reporting. Can you do me a favor? Enable the Emby for Kodi debug (addon settings > advanced). Then in the Emby metadata manager, hit save for one title that's incorrect in Kodi so it captures the metadata. Provide your Kodi log.

I thought we were already converting the flag correctly, but I'll double check. Thanks.

Hello @@Angelblue05. Sorry this took me a while to upload. It was my first time. A lot to work out.

Not the debug level was set to "Debug". Would "info" have sufficed for the future?

Thanks so much for your help.

Info is usually enough (default logging). In this case, where I need to see the content metadata, it needs to be set to debug. You can definitely switch back to info now.

Thanks I will. Did you see the attached / get a chance to look at the attached log file?

I can't today, but tomorrow I'll have free time to work on the addon.

I've checked your log, none of the content captured in your log has dts-hd codec? All I see is AC3 and AAC. Let me know.

Hello Angelblue05

Sorry I was having issues with uploading a file yesterday and may have inadvertently sent the wrong one.

However I redid the file and opened and rechecked the results. This time the file appears in the Kodi log. It is Star Wars Episode I. Search under that or DTS-HD.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

@@Angelblue05 have you had a chance to look at the resend file. Can you determine what is going wrong?

I have Star Wars Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace on Blu-ray disc ripped to ISO.

In native Kodi / MYSQL and also in Kodi with the Emby add-on the audio flag is DTS not DTS-HD

The Denon AVR says its DTS-HD MSTR its receiving from the Kodi PC that's bitstreaming it.

However I think this is a Kodi skin issue. I am still on Isengard 15.2 using the Xperience 1080 skin.

If I switch to Confluence it says DTS-HD. So seems to be working OK. Ill check again though after a library scan in Kodi,

I've been waiting for Kodi Krypton to be released by LibreElec I am then going to migrate my HTPC's away from OpenElec and may finally install the Emby add-on for Kodi LOL.

EDIT:

Looking at the nfo file for this title I cannot see any Video / Audio stream or codec information present at all in the file. Probably because its an ISO.

After a manual sync in Kodi in the Confluence skin the audio icon has gone along with all the other media flag icons.

I suspect as I am using Blu-ray ISO it behaves somewhat differently. Kodi either native or with the Emby add-on does not show media info flags until after you have played the ISO title for the very first time, only then can Kodi read the video / audio stream info and display the media flags. Assume this is also why Emby server doesn't populate the nfo file with video / audio stream details.

As Emby server is not entering any video / audio stream information in to the nfo file for this ISO title, after the manual sync that is why all the flags have gone again.

But if I play the title again the flags come back, it must be Kodi on its own that is establishing what media flags it should be displaying after "first" playback etc, rather than them being "scraped" added to the local Kodi DB with the Emby add-on sync.

I assume the OP is not using ISO though as he said he had audio stream information in his nfo file.

So perhaps there is another issue as well.
