Which port does emby connectivity use?

When I'm running a VPN, I only have a few ports I can open, so I'm wondering which port the emby connect uses to communicate to me and what port the user connects to.

I'm wondering since I can specify 2 different ports in the emby server, http and https (I would prefer https), which one is used (only got I port to spare, and the VPN don't allow ports so low as 8000 series)

You can set Emby to use any available port (Dashboard-Advanced-Hosting).  Are you trying to have your user connect through the vpn or have them connect directly via your WAN address?  Knowing the vpn address will be your issue since it will constantly change.

Currently vpns play havoc with LAN and WAN address reporting in Emby most users end up setting the LAN and WAN address via the same page.  And connect via there WAN address.

I use a VPN to pass by the ISPs "all incoming ports closed" policy, so when I'm using emby connect, I was wondering if they refer the users to the http or https port..

I won't be abel to use the standard ports, and I only want to use 1 incoming port..

I'm currently not having any issue with wan/LAN problem with my VPN..(it's a hardwired box)

You can use either http or https via Connect.  As  LAN/WAN problem does the Dashboard show your vpn address or your proper LAN and WAN address?

The all you should have to do is select whether you are going to use http or https and set your port in Hosting.

Actually if I only open the https port, will anybody that tries to connect thru emby connect, be connected to the https port, or will it fail because of the http port is closed?

I forgot to mention that all users use the emby app on Android. Does that one connect to the https or http by default?

Report https as external address
If enabled, the server will report an https url to Emby apps as it's external address.

In hosting enable this option.  That should do it.
