Thanks for enabling LiveTV!

I know most of us come to this place to ask questions about issues we face when dealing with all different aspects of MB. That's normal. But I felt like stopping by here today just to say a big thank you to all of you involved in the Live TV project. I now have it up and running and already took advantage of it to watch a soccer game while out of my house this morning :-)

Just to make things even more fun, my MB3Server and WMC machine are virtualized with ESXi. So the installation of WMC hit a few bumps along the way and others may take advantage of what I learned here:

1. You can't fully setup WMC via Remote Desktop. So I had to login into the Client Console to finish some of the operations like Cable Advisor

2. You will most likely get warning messages from WMC complaining about your video card. Don't worry about it, since you won't be watching anything via the WMC interface anyway.

3. Cable Advisor will block you from finishing the process since your virtualized WMC is not fully HDCP complaint.  In order to bypass this issue, I recommend you to use the Overide digital Cable Advisor script found at http://missingremote.com/guide/override-digital-cable-advisor-windows-media-center-7

4. After that, ServerWMC and the plug in worked just fine. Ah remember, you should not use IE - it just doesn't work. With Chrome all streams are just fine!.

One open question since we are in the help forum anyway : :-)

Do I need to enable the option in ServerWMC to transcode to TS files while recording WTV? Or this is not necessary for MB? (I know you need for XBMC)

Thanks !

Thanks for that.  I needed one of those right about now.

If you are talking about the 'remux active recordings' option in the 'recordings' tab of swmc?

This would be a good addition to a WMC knowledgebase.

Yes, that's the option. I am just wondering if I must enable it or not.

An 'active' recording means one that is currently being recorded to.  If you leave this option checked (default) swmc will treat this the same as a live-tv stream, meaning it will remux it to 'ts' on the fly and you'll be viewing the ts stream - the file will play until the end of the file is reached.  If you uncheck it, you'll be viewing the wtv file, but mb3 will only play the wtv file up to the length of the file when ffmpeg was started.  In other words, if its an hour program, but only a half hour of it was recorded when you started watching, after you view a half hour of it the stream will stop.  This has to do with the weirdness of 'active' wtv and ffmpeg's inability to deal with it correctly.

+1 Krusty for writing this fabulous add-on.

It worked perfectly on my Win8 system without any issues, except using the IP vs the name (maybe IP6 responds when name called?).
