Path substitutions in mixed OS environment

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I have a following setup:.

- Kodi+Emby-server on a Linux 14.04-box (Kodibuntu-OS)

- Lubuntu-laptop 16.04

- Windows-laptop Win 7 Pro

- media is on a SMB-share on a separate FreeBSD NAS-box

- media SMB-shares are mapped to Kodibuntu's /mnt -folder

When playing emby-content via Win-laptop (Chrome-browser), direct playing works. When using a linux-laptop (Chrome-browser), it always transcodes.

Path-substitutions are as follows:

/mnt/media/TV

\\ip-address\media\TV

I played around little bit, replacing UNC-paths with //ip-address/media/TV and smb://ip-address/media/TV, still transcoding on the linux laptop.

Propably a stupid question but is there a way to get the direct-playing working on both Linux and Windows-clients?

Different path substitutions per device is something we don't currently support but is a possibility for the future.

For now you would just have to try to find one path that might work for all.
