Fire TV poor playback

I have 3 amazon fire tv devices. One of them is fairly new while the other 2 are somewhat older. I just ripped a bluray video and the end size is about 16GB. On one of my devices playback works without any issues but on another device it stops playing every so often (maybe 10 seconds or so). I switched to an external player and playback was flawless, the problem is when I end the video I just get a grey screen when returning back to Emby. In order to successfully relaunch emby i have to force close it. I tried 2 external players (VLC, and Mr something), both had the same issue.

I've also tried changing the bit rate settings without success. Both devices are hardwired (gigabit connection) to the server. Any thoughts on how i can get playback to work? I'd be ok with the build in player, or an external one

@@keith2045 Are you running the beta version of the Android TV app? If not I suggest you do as version 1.3 solved a lot of my issues with the app.

No I'm not. Not really sure how to get the beta. Searching now

Just tried the beta version, same issues (both, bad playback, and grey screen when closing VLC). I just noticed that the network connection for that device is maxing out at 100mb. Might try using a 1gb connection, but not sure that will fix the issue.

Attached are the logs. I just noticed that another file worked without any issues and it's larger. I'm going to try recreating the mkv file, i did it a little different.

The reason for the poor playback is due to burning in subtitles, which is often painful. To resolve this, you can either disable subtitles, or consider acquiring text-based subtitles that won't require burn in.

Also in a future release our internal video player will be able to handle these PGS subs without burn-in, but for now, it has to use the server for that.
