The pas week I decided to test emby and solve many complaints of playback.

As far as the EMBY Android app  Unless you use it with wifi  UNFORTUNATELY its useless.

Now like many I prefer to chrome,  so here is how I tested it.....

1 I installed windows 10 pro on a 7 year old laptop with 2 gig memory and a 280gig hard drive.   I THEN TRIED TO play emby on the laptop with CHROME  it is JUMPY stop and go etc.  and i'm sitting at MY ROUTER.

So one would say  THE laptop is too slow,,,,,  "NOT EVEN CLOSE TO BEING CORRECT"

2 things you can do for chrome

Uninstall Adobe Flash

Then Reinstall it as  I discovered chrome has version 21.r0   and the latest version isa 23 r0

Basic Issues

Play the video in another browser first to see if it plays smoothly. If so, chances are the problem is with Chrome or one of its plugins instead of some larger computer issue like poor Internet connection, faulty graphics card driver or not enough memory for smooth performance.

Pepper Flash

A specific Adobe Shockwave plugin can cause choppy and unresponsive playback during flash videos. To remedy this problem, type "chrome:plugins" into Chrome's address bar and press "Enter." Locate the Adobe Flash Player section and look at the Location field, which lists a drive path on your computer. Find the entry with "PepperFlash" in the location and click "Disable." Restart Chrome and see if video playback is any smoother. If not, a clean reinstallation of Adobe Shockwave may solve the problem.

here is the download page for the uninstall adobe app and the latest install

If you use a Mac, see Uninstall Flash Player | Mac.

Flash Player information

If Flash Player is installed on your computer, the following box displays the version of Flash Player and your operating system. If Flash Player is not installed, an error message appears.

Issue

Flash Player installation was not successful.

Solution: Download and run the uninstaller
1. Download the uninstaller for Flash Player

The Flash Player uninstaller executes on both the 64-bit and 32-bit version of the Windows operating systems.

Save the file in a location where you can find it easily after you restart your computer. For example, save it on your Windows desktop.

Note: To uninstall Flash Player beta, use the corresponding Flash Player beta uninstaller available in Adobe Labs.

2. Exit all browsers and other programs that use Flash

The uninstaller does not work if any programs that use Flash are running on your computer.

  • Look at the taskbar. If the taskbar contains program icons for a browser or for a game that uses Flash, right-click each icon and choose Close. This example shows a browser in the taskbar:
close_browser_taskbar.png

Look at the icons in the system tray for programs that run in the background. Examples include AOL Instant Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, and games that use Flash (any file with a name that ends in .swf). If you see such an icon, right-click the icon and choose Exit, as shown in this example:

close_yahoo_messenger_system_tray.PNG
3. Run the uninstaller
  • Double-click the icon of the uninstaller that downloaded to your computer.
  • Follow the prompts. Click Yes if you see the message "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer?"
  • Delete Flash Player files and folders.

    • Choose Start > Run.

    • Copy and paste the following and click OK. C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash

      delete_folder_open.PNG
    • Delete all the files in this folder.

    • Follow steps a, b, and c for the following:
      C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
      %appdata%\Adobe\Flash Player
      %appdata%\Macromedia\Flash Player

      Note:

Beginning with Flash Player 11.5, uninstalling the Flash Player resets the AutoUpdateDisable and SilentAutoUpdateEnable settings in mms.cfg to their default values, which are:

      • AutoUpdateDisable=0
      • SilentAutoUpdateEnable=0

If you are running the Flash Player uninstaller as part of your deployment process, redeploy any custom changes that you have made to either AutoUpdateDisable or SilentAutoUpdateEnable.

4. Verify that uninstallation is complete

The most Important discovery is the new Michrosoft Edge  will solve all the playback issues, and unfortunately you will have to install windows 10 as currently no one has ported michrosoft edge to be used on other windows installs.

and yes I attached some logs,,,

Maybe we can look at Micrsoft Edge coding,  and possible we might learn something to IMPROVE EMBY.

Check your memory usage when using chrome. It is notorious for being a memory hog and 2gb might not be enough especially with all those background tasks running.

my system running is a i3 with 6 gigs and 5tb of storage,   this system has no problems,  and yest I run a Message Board, emby torrents and search engine my system runs at 25% resources,  so no issues with my server box,   these test are all outside, the box....    its the ffmpeg, that consumes 100% or every core it has access to   so I keep it in hyperthreading core x2   :)

The native Android app does not use html5 but he web app does. Flash is a dead technology now.

HTML5 Google Chrome Issue

Using Arpeggio with Google Chrome

Currently there is a known issue with Google Chrome (All Platforms) that can prevent playback of videos in our HTML5 Arpeggio player.  The issue has to do with how Chrome handles HTML5 playback.

There are two situations where this issue can occur:

  1. Multiple HTML5 Video elements on either one page or across multiple tabs
  2. Too many tabs are open in Chrome, regardless of content

As a work-around, we recommend only placing one HTML5 video element per page, and advise users if they reach out to you and are using Chrome to close any extra tabs, clear the cache, and then reload the page.  If they do not do this the problem will persist.

Unfortunately we are unable to fix the root cause of the issue ourselves, but we are investigating options to work around the issue in Chrome.  This issue has also been reported to Google.  We will keep Viddler clients appraised of any progress

This appears to be the fix for html5  chrome issues

I've had zero playback issues with Chrome even on my laptop with a low powered Intel n3050 processor.
