maegibbons 1287 Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Hi New to emby from plex mainly because of m3u live tv and recording support. I first setup emby on windows as a quick test and everything works fine on that server. I then installed it on a Ubuntu 14.04.5 VM that is headless and have plex on there as well. Things work well EXCEPT live tv on Emby Android player and Windows theatre. I can use the andoid app to cast to chromecast or roku 3 absolutely fine and the streams play just fine on those devices, However try to play the live streams on Windows theatre itself or Android app just gives spinning circles for ever!!! I can see ffmpeg starts up and appears to be transcoding but nothing is displayed on the clients!. HELP!!! Obviously i could just use windows but I like Linux for backend stuff. Versions on both is latest Version 3.0.8500.0 KR's Mark

Jdiesel 1431 Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 You can try setting Emby Server to use the system version of FFmpeg. I know there was an issue with version 3.2 of FFmpeg and switching to use the system version, on Ubuntu 16.04, worked in my case.
Luke 42077 Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Hi @@maegibbons, if you need help locating an ffmpeg version lower than 3.2, you can use this one here: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Resources/tree/master/ffmpeg/linux Then customize it in the Emby Server dashboard using the above screenshot as a reference. Let us know how it goes. Thanks !
maegibbons 1287 Posted December 7, 2016 Author Posted December 7, 2016 Hi Guys Thanks for the pointers. I took the plunge and did an LTS upgrade from 14.04 to 16.04 and set the system default ffmpeg to be used. That sorted my problems. So thank you both KR's Mark
