Oconnor 0 Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Hello, As mention in the topic ever time I try to sync kodi with emby I get this error, or something in the lines of that error and it won't sync.Emby runs on a synology NAS. Kodi runs on windows PC Both in same network and connected. What i've done: - Tried restarting - manual sync - reset local kodi database (not settings) Logfile:https://www.dropbox.com/s/uggyrkbtsgw220g/kodi.log?dl=0 Thanks in advance for any help you can give
Oconnor 0 Posted November 30, 2016 Author Posted November 30, 2016 Your server is timiing out getting your movies (Caused by ReadTimeoutError : Read timed out. (read timeout=30) Let me have a look, perhaps I can extent the timeout or make is user configurable. 30 seconds to get your movie list is still of concern though, what hardware is your server running on? Ah, I see! Synology Nas ds213j - CPU Frequency : 2.0 GHz. Hardware Encryption Engine. Memory : DDR3 512 MB. But I might know the reason - I have a USB external HDD that I have a lot of movies on - let me see what happens when I remove that from my library!
Oconnor 0 Posted November 30, 2016 Author Posted November 30, 2016 Trying the last thing now - removing USB did not help!
Oconnor 0 Posted November 30, 2016 Author Posted November 30, 2016 also try setting the "Maximum items to request from the server at once" to 10 or even 5 its in your addon setting under sync I set it to 15 now - that seems to get things going. At least now I see % rising and not the error at 0. I had it at 200 - that's maybe way to high? I was thinking, would it be better to move Emby service over to my HTPC that runs 24/7? It's a bit stronger then the NAS, but i thought it would run fine there =/
browned 33 Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Can I add to this, I recently rebuilt all my systems, 3 x Shield TV's and 1 x 6 Core PC. All running at 1Gbps, syncing from a 4 core virtual server with 10Gbe, 12+ sata disks, and 16GB Ram. I noticed that the Shield's would struggle to complete a sync at 200 items, one did but the rest would not, reducing all to 100 sorted them. The PC and a Shield struggled to sync at the same time, one at a time solved this. Now the server is not a huge performance machine but it seems if more than one system is doing something while another is syncing it can interrupt the syncing process. Perhaps the server and add-in could figure out the best performance number depending on the number of devices attached to the server at the time. 200 for no other systems. 100 for 2 systems of more. 50 for 3 systems of more. 25 for 4 systems. etc etc. It might also be a good idea that if the sync fails the item count be automatically reduced with the option of restarting Kodi, similar to the DB reset steps. Or perhaps the server could set this figure dynamically based on load/devices and the addin option is only hard set if you want more performance. Just some ideas.
Oconnor 0 Posted November 30, 2016 Author Posted November 30, 2016 I've been restarting kodi a few times today - no problems whatsoever. It's actually going a lot faster then it ever has!Thank you for your help null_pointer! Right now I have it at 15 - should I just leave it at that, or should I try to increase it to see where the limit is, if that information is good for you?
Oconnor 0 Posted November 30, 2016 Author Posted November 30, 2016 there is a bug at the moment that has broken the fall back mechanism that should auto lower the limit, we are looking at a fix now. this will lower it to a "working" limit but this should not stop you playing with the number to get the best performance for you and your system which might be 15 or 5 or 50, the addon can not really tune this for you so have a play and report back :-) Sounds great - thank you for all the help. I tried it on another computer today, got the same issue - trying to set it to a lower number and see how it works, I guess this is all connected to my NAS.
cow666 6 Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Hi have just had to reset my whole system after a server death .. now when I try and sync with my emby server I'm getting the thread sync exited error Log file https://paste.ubuntu.com/23562132 Help please!!!
Angelblue05 4132 Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Have you tried lowering the number of item requested at once? Go to the addon settings > sync options > decrease the number to 15 and restart Kodi to restart the sync. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
cow666 6 Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 (edited) Will try that now Edited December 1, 2016 by cow666
Oconnor 0 Posted December 5, 2016 Author Posted December 5, 2016 Hey, I guess it explains it self that you should not do it, but I think I know what caused both of my errors (I got the error Library thread sync exit again), so just FYI: When I did changes on my movie folder (the one emby use) while emby still ran I got this - it seems like it's stuck on syncing to movies (and that is what i did changes in) - all tho I did clean and scan library before entering kodi. So might be something causing it here. A reset of the database and fresh sync fixed the problem - not lowering the sync (that' fixed it the first time)
