NemesisZeRo 7 Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 Now I'm FURIOUS. This is the second time emby deletes all my movies because some error in the software. I saw that I someway had 4 copies of a movie. I selected one of them, and choose delete. A warning came up, and asked me if I wanted to delete the meta and the media file. I choose of course yes. And did the same to the next one. Then I suddenly saw that the movies just started to vanish in the list.. Before I had stopped the server it had AGAIN deleted all my movies. This screenshot is NOT from this time, but I suspect it was the same error, which is in the software. As you all can see, on the left, it indicates a movie, and on the right it looks like a movie. BUT if you see the path, it only shows a part of the path, but no filename or anything IF you select this movie and select to delete the media, it will DELETE EVERYTHING that's in that directory. Last time this happened, i got angry, but now I've realised that it's the software's fault. Don't ask for any logfiles, it would only say that I choose to delete the file, and yes I did, but not everything! Maybe I should have looked to see that the entry I was trying to delete, had a faulty metadata, and didn't point to a existing file, but I didn't notice rust since everything else looked exactly like it was a movie! [emoji35] Now I have to try running a recovery AGAIN.. next time( if there will be a next time) I'll have to write protect the movies.. .. But should that really be necessary???
Luke 42085 Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 This has been resolved for the next release of Emby Server. Thanks.
Happy2Play 9783 Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 (edited) Did you by change look at the path of your supposedly duplicate movies? But if the media has a path of like your screenshot then I understand if I tell it to delete \movies it will delete anything in \movies. Edited November 27, 2016 by Happy2Play
Happy2Play 9783 Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 To me it sounds like miss identification and should use identify instead of delete. Or there is an issue identifying with your folder structure (same as first).

Happy2Play 9783 Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 From the screenshot that looks like possible a single item in the parent folder that hasn't been identified. Same applies to Hard Target 2 and A Holagram - displayed naming scheme tells you the are not Identified.
Luke 42085 Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 There was a similar thread somewhere else where something was mis-identified and rather than trying to resolve the identification, the user opted for the delete function and then complained that their media had been deleted. There might be an identification issue here, but if we look at the screen above, it looks like he clicked on the sidebar and the main panel either had an error and failed to load the selected item, or it was just taking a long time to do so. So what I've done is prevented the use of the delete function with top-level folders. So what he did won't even be possible anymore.

That is what I thought at first but the path is not "C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\root\default\Movies" unless this is customizable, or is this non-Windows?
NemesisZeRo 7 Posted November 27, 2016 Author Posted November 27, 2016 This was now the second time it happened to me.. .. But the core issue must be how did the program add a root directory as a movie? And maybe an option to just remove the metadata, or ..I I don't know, I'm very frustrated now.. if the server wasn't 100 kilometres from me, it would probably be in a million pieces.. Happy2Play 9783 Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 What is your folder structure and how are your folders added to your library? And what server version? Want to test a theory.

Want to test a theory. The folders are added by pressing the add button in the settings.. where I setup the folders. I'm running the latest official .. The server is currently running a recovery, so I can't check exactly what the numbers are Running Windows 7 Edited November 27, 2016 by NemesisZeRo
