High Memory usage

I have noticed twice now that the stable version 3.0.8500.0 is using 14 gigs of memory after running for a couple hours. Any ideas why?

I know without logs you can say anything but wanted to get this started I will put server logs up once I get back home and clean out up information.

Are you running any plug-ins?  How large is your library?

In these cases I have found PROCESS Tamer or System Explorer a great asset I can get my system to as low as 18%of memory and 0-2% cpu  when im not browsing.

I even used Syetem explorer to set svhost.exe and other system files to 1 core and lower its priority to idle  and it usually takes care of the problem.

Process Tamer is set to manage the apps automatically and does work but I preefer to do it myself.

I have never seen Emby use more than 1gb of memory, but I also don't have/use Live TV so I guess I will never see that much Memory usage.

It may be the live TV function now that I think about it. I switched from the dev build to a brand new install of stable and started seeing this issue never saw it on dev. I have and still am away from the house to test or post logs.

Was streaming content to my roku 3 and it started to become sluggish and not responding. Checked on the server and was at 14 gigs of memory of 16. I can test removing plugins but do not see this with the dev server which has the same plugins and setup. Attached is a log.

I would also like to add I was not streaming live TV.

Uninstalled all plug ins as I saw it was using 7.5 gigs just now. Restarted and will start adding them back one by one each day report back. I will run without and plug ins for a full day before I start adding them back.

Okay with nothing but my wife watching a show that requires transcoding I am up to 2 gigs of memory being used. Logs attached. Sorry they are not clean as I could not stop the server without pissing the wife off. Those with wife's or girlfriends understand.

Up to ~ 3 gigs with only transcoding I thought the issue was the app so I had my wife switch from the Official Roku app to Blue Neon and it is still climbing something is definitely wrong with the server when transcoding.

@@Luke, is there a time frame on getting the latest stable server version? I am having to restart the server 3-4 times a day

I'm afraid we can't offer ETA's sorry. The fastest way to help move things along to stable is to spin up a test environment and help test the pre-release builds, which you are already doing.

I've noticed this problem for a few days now in the mornings. Killing the process isn't enough as memory spikes almost right away (10GB+) within a couple minutes. A reboot solves the issue at least temporarily. I've attached two logs before and after the reboot to see if it helps.

Hi, you could try removing Cover Art and seeing if the issue persists. Thanks.

Sure I will try that and monitor its memory usage.

I am on current beta 243 and noticed that emby is unresponsive and discovered that it is using 91% of cpu and nearly all the memory

I removed the cover art plug in but that didn't fix it. It may have something to do with the server restart or configuration backup as those run overnight. It always seems to be in the AM that emby has locked everything up. I'll play around with it to see if running them at a different time or disabling makes a difference.

I am having the same issue lately, with no one on my server, my 8 core Xeon is at 51% usage with Emby.  It has only started happening recently.  I can end task it, but it will start going berserk within a few hours.

Luke should I post this in the testing server or is it ok here. It seems that scanning media library is the issue last night I restarted the server and it started scan media library and it got to 23.1% than I went to sleep and in the morning it was still stuck at 23.1%.

I have just upgraded to 244 and again it is stuck at 23.1% it has been 10 minutes and no movement.

Next build should resolve it, thanks.
