Incorrect Runtime on Newest TV Shows When RSS downloaded

Hi All,

Im having this problem where the Runtime Indicated is Wrong by Alot (a typical 21 mins Episode Shows up as 194 Mins) example Duck Dynasty S5 E3:

This only happens to Tv Episodes that i have on Automatic Download in an RSS Feed. Its as if when the Episode was downloaded the Runtime wasnt available at that time.

If i manually download an Episode thats been out for more then a Day or two the Runtime will be Correct.

I do Have checked : 'enable Automatic Updates from The TheTVDB.com ' but 4-5 days later the Runtime remains incorrect.

To fix it I go in the Web Client, Click Edit and Hit Refresh Meta Data and it gets fixed within 2 sec.

Doing this daily is Annoying and without this the Tv shows never reaches Watched Status because you can only watch 21mins/194mins.

Anyone has any idea on why this is happening or a way to trigger a Metadata Refresh on a Schedule ?

Thanks,

we pull the runtime directly from the media and that's what we use throughout the system. the original runtime value that you entered is considered the runtime of the original work, in this case an episode. however we hardly use it.

Then is it Normal that a library Scan doesnt pickup the changes on the 2nd Run ?

what kind of video is this?

Standard Mkv 720p File nothing special.

On the 1st Scan the time will be incorrect (in this case it shows up as 194mins but in reality its 21mins) because the file is not complete and still downloading

On the 2nd scan the time is still incorrect, but the file is fully downloaded.

Maybe thats something that the Media Library Scan cant/wont pickup the changes by design?

that's not exactly true. as mentioned, we do not pull runtimes from the tvdb, at all. we pull it from your mkv file. something must not have been right the first time we scanned the file. then you click refresh and you get good data. the latest server release has updated our copy of ffmpeg. perhaps the last version was pulling incorrect runtimes for some of your files, and now the new one is getting the right data.

It cant pull data off the file until its 100% downloaded that is whats causing the problem for sure and its normal ( nothing can )

and the Media Scan doesnt pickup the changes on the 2nd run because maybe that something that its not looking for ? (runtime is beeing checked on the 1st pass only and never compared after ?)

yea that's probably it. on the second run it would get picked up if the timestamps of the file change. but it sounds like they did not.

i would suggest having a download folder and then move from your download folder to your media folder. lucky for you, we have a new feature coming soon to make that very easy

My Rss Software already downloads every Show in its own seperate Folder automatically. That way you see new Episode Pop up in MB3 without having to do anything its pretty neat.

But Thanks alot Luke for you time & input at least now i know exactly why this is happening !

I'll Wait for the New Feature and in the meantime to go around this problem i'll set the Trigger for the Media Scan to a time when i know nothing will be downloading.

Even if i put the Trigger for the Media scan to a specific time (once a day) it still Run scan on its own when it detects changes ?

Do you if there is a way to Stop it from scanning automatically Except when triggered ?
