Emby with Amazon Cloud Drive

Hello,

I've been experimenting with Emby using the Amazon Cloud Drive (ACD) the last few days.

I basically just wanted to give a feedback and say how things are going.

First of all some basic system data:

OS: Debian Jessie (SMP Debian 3.16.36-1+deb8u2 (2016-10-19) x86_64 GNU/Linux)

CPU: Intel® Core i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz

MEM: 32GB

Emby: latest stable

The system is running an software raid5, which performs pretty decent.

Usually I'm running emby without the ACD mount and it is lightning fast - no delay in the webinterface etc.

Now i've mounted my media content from ACD via acd_cli and on top of that I've mounted rar2fs, so I don't need to unrar anything.

Well, what can I say .. basically it does not work as I expected it. Emby literally gets unusable when using the shares from ACD - I can't come up with any possible reason why. I disabled realtime monitoring, I save the cache and all metadata on the local file system. I expected emby to access the media files only when I'm actually trying to play a media file, but it seems that emby is constantly accessing them for whatever reason. Of course I disabled (removed) all scheduled tasks to prevent emby to start some library syncing etc.

The amount of content we are speaking about is ~4.5TB, which is not too much.

Is there anything I can do or is this just simply impossible with emby?

Sorry, for the bad writing and the structure .. I'm just dead tired and wrote this quickly down.

Feel free to ask any questions.

Regards

It shouldn't be touching them. Just make sure to control when you want the library scan to take place.

Well, what can i do more than removing the scheduled task for it?

My Emby/ACD setup is working well at the moment, I'm happy with the results.

I used acd_cli 0.3.1 i believe but now running an up to date rclone mount which runs (very) slightly better. No experience with rar2fs, but your machine is way better than mine. I'm on around 23TB of media.

Ubuntu 14.04 on the latest emby build, feel free to message me with any questions

How fast is your refresh of the library working? Because my emby basically gets unusable when starting that.

I managed to solve the problems with the playback, when no scheduled tasks are running.

Scans are now down to about 25 minutes, I schedule these for around 3am when nobody is watching, most scheduled tasks run overnight. For times when I've done a fresh install on a new server, it'll take 15-16 hours to scan through and pick up all 23TB of media.

Thanks for the report. That is most likely due to the media probing during the first time scan.

I think the problem on my side is, that the library scan is stuck at 10% ... I thought all the time, it is just taking that freaking long and aborted it. Now while looking at the logfile, it is really stuck at 10% ...
